This series of 94 climate risk and adaptation profiles offers a common platform to guide access, synthesis, and analysis of relevant country data and information for Disaster Risk Reduction and Adaptation to Climate Change. The profiles are geared towards providing a quick reference source for devel...opment practitioners to better integrate climate resilience in development planning and operations. Users are able to evaluate climate-related vulnerability and risks by interpreting climate and climate-related data at multiple levels of detail. Sources on climate and climate related information are linked through the country profiles’ on-line platform, which is periodically updated to reflect the most recent publicly available climate analysis. The series is developed by the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), the Global Support Program of the Climate Investment Funds, and the Climate Change Team of the Environment Department of the World Bank and was made possible with the support of the Government of Luxemburg, the World Bank, and the Climate Investment Funds.

What at first glance appears to be simple causality – climate change leading to more and more migration – has triggered intense academic debate over the past ten years because the circumstances are complex. There is need for a thorough analysis in the ground between denying the problem and asser...ting immediate causality. In international relations, migration induced by climate change and environmental degradation is increasingly recognized as a problem, whether in the framework of international climate policy, international migration policy, development cooperation, or international crisis management. But considering the dimension of these major challenges, only small steps have been taken so far. The scope of the problem continues to be underestimated. Climate change is jeopardizing the livelihoods of more and more people. It is a risk multiplier. Although understanding of the connection between climate change and migration has increased, many questions have yet to be answered. We need more knowledge to better support the people affected.

Exposure to air pollution causes 7 million deaths worldwide every year and costs an estimated US$ 5.11 trillion in welfare losses globally. In the 15 countries that emit the most greenhouse gas emissions, the health impacts of air pollution are estimated to cost more than 4% of their GDP. Actions to... meet the Paris goals would cost around 1% of global GDP. The report provides recommendations for governments on how to maximize the health benefits of tackling climate change and avoid the worst health impacts of this global challenge.

das Recht auf Gesundheit ist ein weltweites Menschenrecht. Dennoch gestalten sich die vielen ge-sundheitlichen Facetten in jedem Land der Erde ganz unterschiedlich. So kann dieses Menschen-recht in vielen Ländern leider oftmals nicht vollständig oder sogar überhaupt nicht eingeha...lten werden und viele Menschen leiden bis heute unter gesundheitlichen Problemen, denen sie hilflos ausgeliefert sind.Die DAHW Deutsche Lepra- und Tuberkulosehilfe e.V. hat sich daher bereits vor über 60 Jahren zum Ziel gesetzt, dieser Ungerechtigkeit entgegenzuwirken. Da Gesundheit vor allem in den ärmeren Ländern der Erde nicht rechtmäßig gewährleistet werden kann, liegt der Fokus der Organisation auf der Bekämpfung der Krankheiten der Armut und ihren Folgen. So besteht die Vision der DAHW da-rin, mit ihrer Tätigkeit dazu beizutragen, eine Welt zu schaffen, in der kein Mensch unter Lepra, Tuberkulose und anderen Krankheiten der Armut und ihren Folgen wie Behinderung und Ausgren-zung leidet. Eine Auswertung von Lehrevaluationen aus den USA zeigt, dass diese globalen Trainingslager auch einen heimischen Zweck erfüllen.... Sie sollen angehenden Ärztinnen und Ärzten zu stärkerer klinischer Selbstständigkeit und einem sozialen Gewissen verhelfen, das ihrem Heimatland zugute kommt. Die Erfahrung im globalen Süden wird so nicht zu einer missionarischen Hilfsaktion, sondern zum Korrektiv für Fehlentwicklungen im eigenen Gesundheitssystem.
