By creating a network of train...ing institutions, the Regional AIDS Training Network (RATN) aims to improve the quality of HIV/AIDS training in Eastern and Southern Africa. RATN also aims to increase access to, and demand for, HIV/AIDS training in order to strengthen the ability of communities to respond effectively to the pandemic. The project supports a sustainable and functioning regional network of training institutions that are working to reduce the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS and their impact on communities. RATN functions as a secretariat to its member institutions (29 member institutions in 10 countries in 2010). It works with its members to develop and adapt short-term skills-upgrading courses for mid-level STI and HIV/AIDS workers, trainers, program managers, and senior policy makers. Courses are delivered by the member institutions. RATN s activities are guided by a strategic plan approved by its Board of Directors that focuses on the consolidation of systems and structures to increase HIV/AIDS capacity building, training, networking, advocacy, and information-sharing activities in the region. Canada s funding, which is pooled with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and Irish Aid, concentrates on activities that build RATN s capacity in areas such as Board of Directors governance, staff development and training, and financial management and procurement. This is one of two parts of the project Strengthening the Regional AIDS Training Network (RATN) in Eastern and Southern Africa - II, which has a total budget of $9.25 million. / En créant un réseau d établissements de formation, le Réseau régional de formation sur le sida (RRFS) vise à améliorer la formation en matière du VIH/sida en Afrique orientale et australe. Le RRFS vise aussi à augmenter l accès à cette formation et la demande pour celle-ci, afin de renforcer la capacité des collectivités à réagir efficacement face à cette pandémie. Le projet appuie le développement d un réseau durable et fonctionnel d établissements de formation qui travaillent à réduire la prévalence des infections transmissibles sexuellement (ITS) et du VIH/sida et leurs conséquences pour les collectivités. Le RRFS sert de secrétariat pour ses établissements membres (29 établissements membres répartis dans 10 pays en 2010). Il travaille avec ces derniers pour développer et adapter des cours de courte durée en vue d augmenter la capacité des travailleurs intérimaires dans le domaine des ITS et du VIH/sida, des formateurs, des gestionnaires de programme et des décideurs au niveau supérieur. The goal of this project is to... reduce the number of HIV infections and improve care and support for women, men, girls, and boys infected with HIV and affected by HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa. Through country offices in Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, the Southern Africa AIDS Trust (SAT) provides grants and training to community-based organizations to help them develop and manage effective HIV prevention and AIDS treatment and support programs. The training provided by SAT includes data collection and analysis, monitoring and reporting on results, awareness-raising, advocacy, governance, and human resources management. SAT aims to help at least 120 community-based organizations in 300 communities to develop and manage programs to help at least 2.8 million people (1.7 million women) infected with HIV and affected by HIV/AIDS. The project also aims to strengthen the skills of SAT personnel at the national and regional levels, to help SAT achieve its mandate to strengthen the ability of communities to respond effectively to HIV/AIDS. The Southern African AIDS Training Program began in 1990 as a project administered by the Canadian Public Health Association. With Canada s support, the program has since transformed into an independent African-led regional institution supported by multiple donors. / Ce projet vise à réduire le nombre d infections au VIH et à améliorer les soins et l appui aux femmes, aux hommes, aux filles et aux garçons infectés par le VIH et touchés par le VIH/sida en Afrique australe. À l aide des bureaux nationaux au Malawi, au Mozambique, en Tanzanie, en Zambie et au Zimbabwe, l organisation Southern African AIDS Trust (SAT) pour combattre le sida fournit des subventions et donne de la formation à des organisations communautaires pour les aider à élaborer et à gérer efficacement des programmes de prévention du VIH, de traitement du sida et de soutien aux personnes touchées par le sida. This project aims to help redu...ce illness and death among mothers and children by improving the delivery of comprehensive and integrated sexual and reproductive health services to poor, marginalized and high-risk communities. Providing access to sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning, is critical to improving maternal and child health on a sustainable basis. Access to these services empowers women and girls, improves their life opportunities, and reduces maternal and infant mortality caused by the transmission of HIV and unplanned pregnancies. This project is in line with the priorities of the Muskoka Initiative relating to the health of mothers, newborns and children. / Ce projet vise à réduire les cas de maladie et le nombre des décès chez les mères et les enfants en améliorant la prestation de services de santé sexuelle et génésique complets et intégrés aux collectivités pauvres, marginalisées et à risque élevé. L'accès aux services de santé sexuelle et génésique, incluant la planification familiale, est essentiel pour une amélioration durable de la santé maternelle et infantile. The overall goal of this proje...ct is to support the implementation of the Caribbean Regional Strategic Plan of Action for HIV/AIDS. The project supports six initiatives implemented by regional organizations and institutions to reduce the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS: (i) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat is improving regional coordination of activities addressing HIV/AIDS and assisting member states in responding to the legal, ethical, and human rights challenges posed by the epidemic. (ii) The CARICOM Secretariat is also strengthening networking, linkages, and the exchange of information between Caribbean countries, in order to help ensure a coordinated regional response to the epidemic. (iii) The Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute is enhancing the quality of life of people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS. The Institute focuses on improving nutrition and reducing the transmission of HIV/AIDS from mothers to children. (iv) The Caribbean Conference of Churches is helping churches and other faith groups to provide care and assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS and to increase awareness about HIV/AIDS among communities and congregations. (v) The Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation is focusing on youth through the development of peer education activities and youth-friendly health services. (vi) Population Services International is contributing to prevention efforts in the Eastern Caribbean to reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS. / Le but général de ce projet est d'appuyer la mise en application du Cadre stratégique régional des Caraibes pour le VIH/sida. Le projet appuie six initiatives mises en oeuvre par des organisations et institutions régionales en vue de freiner la propagation du VIH/sida et de réduire les effets de celui-ci : i) Le Secrétariat de la Communauté des Caraibes (CARICOM) améliore la coordination régionale des activités de lutte contre le VIH/sida et appuie les États membres aux prises avec des problèmes d'ordre juridique et moral et sur le plan des droits de la personne que pose l'épidémie. ii) Par ailleurs, le Secrétariat de la CARICOM travaille aussi à renforcer les réseaux, les relations et les échanges d'information entre les pays de la région, dans le but d'assurer une action coordonnée dans la lutte contre l'épidémie. iii) L'Institut des Caraibes pour l'alimentation et la nutrition contribue à améliorer la qualité de vie des personnes infectées et affectées par le VIH/sida. This project aims to improve m...aternal and child health by improving the understanding of safe breastfeeding practices in order to enable HIV-positive mothers to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. The project targets the Lusaka district in Zambia, reaching over 1,500 HIV positive women. The project focuses on strengthening maternal and child health systems related to HIV/AIDS, improving food security for HIV-positive mothers, and fostering community mobilization and education. Activities include: promoting safe breastfeeding; developing food programs for families affected by HIV/AIDS; and training 300 health workers providing maternal and infant health care for families affected by HIV/AIDS. The International Development and Relief Foundation is working in partnership with the University of Zambia to implement this project. This project is part of Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment. / Le projet vise à améliorer la santé des mères et des enfants en favorisant une meilleure compréhension des pratiques d'allaitement sécuritaire afin de permettre aux mères séropositives de prévenir la transmission du VIH de la mère à l‘enfant. Le projet se déroule dans le district de Lusaka en Zambie et touche plus de 1 500 femmes séropositives. The ultimate outcome of this p...roposal is to improve the health and rights of women, adolescent girls, and children in situations of vulnerability in 11 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).The project addresses gaps in health services for vulnerable populations, such as women, indigenous and afro-descendant populations, and people living in remote areas. To that end, the project focuses on three components: (1) strengthening health systems; (2) reducing the burden of leading diseases, and; (3) improving nutrition.The project will (i) facilitate a better usage of essential health services; (ii) enhancing management by national health authorities of leading diseases; (iii) improve nutritional practices in targeted populations./ Le résultat ultime de ce projet est l'amélioration de la santé et des droits des femmes, des adolescentes, et des enfants en situation de vulnérabilité dans 11 pays de l'Amérique latine et des Antilles (ALA). Ces pays sont les suivants : Bolivie, Colombie, Équateur, Guatémala, Guyane, Haïti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Pérou et Suriname.Le projet s'attaque aux carences dans la prestance des services de santé aux populations vulnérables telles que les femmes, les groupes autochtones et des descendances afro-antillaise, ainsi que les personnes vivant en régions éloignés. This project aims to improve t...he health services available to poor populations in Africa by supporting the implementation of the African Medical and Research Foundation's (AMREF) 2007-2017 Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan aims to address gaps in health systems by enhancing capacity and participation in the health sector. The first component of AMREF's Strategic Plan consists of strengthening health systems by: working with communities to improve the quality of front-line health services and access to those services, training health personnel, and influencing health policy and programming across Africa. The second component of the Strategic Plan consists of strengthening AMREF's ability to deliver its mandate, for example, by improving program design, management, monitoring and evaluation, and the ability to mobilize and manage financial resources. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, AMREF has country offices in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. AMREF provides training and consulting support through a network that reaches nearly 42 countries across the continent. AMREF works with approximately 200 communities to improve the quality of health services and access to health services in isolated rural communities, slum areas, and conflict zones. Project activities ended in September 2012, but the project remains in operational status as an evaluation is being undertaken. / Ce projet vise à améliorer les services de santé à la disposition de populations pauvres en Afrique en appuyant la mise en oeuvre du Plan stratégique de 2007 à 2017 de la Fondation pour la médecine et la recherche en Afrique (AMREF). Ce plan stratégique vise à combler les lacunes dans les systèmes de santé en accroissant la capacité et la participation dans le secteur de la santé. This project supports the impl...ementation of Tanzania's National Multi-Sectoral Strategic Framework for HIV/AIDS. The Framework encompasses a wide variety of activities in prevention, care, treatment, and impact mitigation of HIV/AIDS. Canada's support through this project enables the Government of Tanzania to expand the level and scope of its expenditures on HIV/AIDS throughout all ministries, departments and agencies and all levels of government, with the majority of funding being provided for activities at the district level. CIDA is working in close collaboration with other donors and the Government of Tanzania to strengthen the effectiveness of its aid through: focusing on effective, transparent, and accountable country systems; increasing coordination and harmonization among donors; and reinforcing mutual accountability. This project fosters greater policy dialogue between CIDA, the Government of Tanzania, and partners, which helps to reinforce efforts for effective, focused aid and long-term development results. Continuous monitoring and evaluation of this project is undertaken in coordination with other donors. The results expected from this project include not only nation-wide progress in addressing HIV/AIDS, but also improvements in the Government of Tanzania's capacity to manage and administer these services, particularly in the areas of transparency, financial management, and accountability. These build on results achieved from CIDA's previous support to Canada's HIV/AIDS Program in Tanzania, which include 55% of mothers receiving antiretroviral (ARV) combination treatment to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV in 2008 compared to 34% in 2007. / Ce projet appuie la mise en oeuvre du Cadre stratégique multisectoriel pour le VIH/sida de la Tanzanie. Ce cadre inclut un vaste éventail d'activités en matière de prévention, soins, traitement et de l'atténuation des impacts du VIH/sida. The HIV/AIDS Expanded Support ...Programme aims to strengthen and broaden Zimbabwe's response to HIV and AIDS through a multi-donor program of support. Focusing on the provision of an integrated package of prevention, treatment and care activities in sixteen selected Districts, the Programme complements support to Zimbabwe from the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The Programme aims to reach poor and vulnerable populations in Zimbabwe and does this in an inclusive way by supporting the delivery of services in currently un-served areas. In each district where the Programme operates, civil society engagement and targeted activities also ensure marginalised and vulnerable groups gain access to services. / Le programme élargi d'appui VIH/sida vise à renforcer et élargir l'intervention du Zimbabwe face au VIH/sida, grâce à un programme de soutien multidonateur. En ciblant la prestation d'un ensemble intégré d'activités de prévention, de traitement et de soins dans seize districts choisis, le programme ajoute au soutien déjà offert au Zimbabwe par le biais du Fonds mondial de lutte contre le sida, la tuberculose et le paludisme. Le programme a pour objet de venir en aide aux personnes pauvres et vulnérables du Zimbabwe en appuyant la prestation de services dans les régions où ces derniers ne sont toujours pas offerts. L'engagement de la société civile et des activités ciblées permettent de faire en sorte que les groupes marginalisés et vulnérables aient accès aux services, et ce, dans chacun des districts où le programme est mis en oeuvre.

This project seeks to improve ...the health of the population in all districts of Bangladesh by strengthening the Bangladesh Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's management of the public health care system and by improving public health services. The project forms the cornerstone of Canada's support for achieving development objectives in the health sector in Bangladesh and its main focus is to help implement the Ministry's Health, Population and Nutrition Sector Development Program. The project activities include: (1) improving the financial management of the Ministry's aid budget; (2) procuring obstetric drugs and family planning supplies in low performing districts with high maternal, newborn and child mortality rates; (3) updating the regulatory framework for the accreditation of health personnel; (4) improving the planning, development and management of human resources for health; (5) increasing the availability of maternal health services; and (6) developing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation plan within the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. As with all pooled funding initiatives, Canada is working in close cooperation with other donors and the Government of Bangladesh to focus on effective, transparent, and accountable country systems; increase donor coordination and harmonization; and strengthen mutual accountability. This initiative aims to reduce... maternal and child mortality in 20 villages in Lubutu and Walikale, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Current interventions to support child and maternal health are inadequate with only 17.7% contraceptive prevalence rate, 42% of family planning needs being met, less than 44 % of women receiving proper antenatal care and an average of 63 % of children being fully immunized (measles, DTP, and Hib). Activities include: 1) Training health workers; Sensitizing Communities members living in 20 health areas about reproductive health, family planning tools, water, hygiene and sanitation; 2) Training community volunteers living in 20 health areas in reproductive health, family planning tools, water, hygiene and sanitation; 3) Sensitizing pregnant women living in 20 health areas in safe pregnancy delivery and motherhood; 4) Building and equipment of seven maternity wards with basic material, supplies and equipment; 5) Providing supplies and material to support family planning implementation to 20 health centers; 6) Equipment of 30 mobile units with material and supplies to deliver ante and post-natal care in remote areas; 7) Building six blocks of latrines and showers, seven medical waste incinerators, placenta and waste pits in seven new maternity wards; and, 8) providing clean water to 4 new maternity wards and surrounding community living within 500 meters. This initiative will directly reach 77,209 people. Jane Goodall Institute of Canada is implementing this project in collaboration with the following local partners: Jane Goodall Institute of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Programme National de Sante de la Reproduction - Maniema Province, and Programme National de Sante de la Reproduction - North Kivu Province. / Cette initiative vise à réduire le taux de mortalité des mères et des enfants dans 20 villages du Lubutu et Walikale, en République Démocratique du Congo (RDC). This initiative aims to reduce... mother and child mortality rates in 15 areas of the Tshopo and Ituri provincial health divisions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Eastern Province. Health divisions have poorly trained workers, little capacity to plan and high rates of mothers and Childs mortality. Through this initiative, the delivery of adapted health services to mothers and children (age 0-5) will be improved by increasing the professional skills of male and female health workers. Furthermore, supporting the local financial capacity will improve health services planning and access to quality data. To increase use of these health services, education campaigns will be launched to teach about reducing maternity risks, family planning, sexually transmitted diseases, as well as early pregnancy.Activities include: 1) training health care providers; 2) strengthening executives' management skills; 3) building five maternity wards and 15 maternity rehabilitation wards; 4) providing equipment and medicines; 5) launching awareness campaigns for the prevention of mother-child HIV/AIDS transmission; 6) assisting 3,500 seropositive women and newborns; 7) launching an early pregnancy prevention campaign; 8) organising knowledge sharing and networking events for the general Canadian public in order to stimulate their commitment to support MNCH initiatives in developing countries.Direct beneficiaries are: 300,000 pregnant women, 90,000 spouses (men), 43,000 youth (age 15-24) as well as 455,000 newborns and children under five, of which 52% are girls. These beneficiaries will be better informed and/or will use the improved health services. More than 700 health care providers (nurses, doctors, specialists), and 355 health care managers and executives will have stronger professional skills.Oxfam Quebec is implementing this project in collaboration with the following local partners: : Anti-Bwaki Mothers' Association, Ituri Provincial Health Division and Tshopo Provincial Health Division./ Cette initiative vise à réduire la mortalité chez les mères et les enfants dans 15 zones des Divisions provinciales de la santé de la Tshopo et de l'Ituri, en Province Orientale de la République Démocratique du Congo (RDC). The project focuses on prevent...ing violence against children and youth and improving services for street children and at-risk families in five communes in Kinshasa. It does this by supporting outreach activities and programs that will improve the services offered at protection centres, health centres and in communities, taking into account the particular needs of girls and boys. The project also advocate s for adherence to and improvement of key child protection policies. Various mechanisms will be established to ensure that children and youth have the ability and opportunity to actively participate in and influence the nature of the services available to them and the decisions that affect them. / Le projet vise à prévenir la violence faite aux enfants et à améliorer les services offerts aux familles à risques et aux enfants de la rue dans cinq communes de Kinshasa. Pour ce faire, le projet appui des programmes et des activités communautaires qui amélioreront les services offerts dans les centres de protection et de santé des diverses communes, tout en prenant en compte les besoins particuliers des garçons et des filles. Le projet vise entre autres l'amélioration et le respect de politiques publiques clefs en matière de protection de l'enfant. Plusieurs mécanismes seront également mis en place afin que les enfants soient en mesure de pouvoir participer activement aux décisions qui les touchent de près ou qui portent sur la nature des services offerts à leur endroit.

The ultimate outcome of this p...roposal is to improve the health and rights of women, adolescent girls, and children in situations of vulnerability in 11 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).The project addresses gaps in health services for vulnerable populations, such as women, indigenous and afro-descendant populations, and people living in remote areas. DEREJUV supports the Governmen...t of Honduras Plan for the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancies by strengthening national policies and expanding access to sexual and reproductive health services for Honduran youth. The project helps prevent adolescent pregnancies and child, early and forced marriages and expands access to adolescent-friendly health services for over 211,000 girls, boys and adolescents in 24 municipalities with some of the highest national rates of adolescent pregnancies by installing adolescent-friendly clinics in community health centers and schools. The project also develops the advocacy and participation skills of girls, boys, adolescents and their families to empower them to participate in municipal programs for the prevention of adolescent pregnancies, develop life skills and complete their education through institutional support and peer-mentoring.Project activities include: 1) technical assistance to develop and implement legislation, policies, norms and standards to prevent adolescent pregnancies; 2) setting up adolescent-friendly health clinics in community health centers and high schools; 3) training for health care professionals on adolescent-friendly health services such as counselling, sexual and reproductive health care and pre- and post-natal care; 4) dissemination of gender-sensitive and age-appropriate comprehensive sexuality education for girls and boys in target communities; 5) design and implement municipal action plans to prevent adolescent pregnancies./ DEREJUV appuiele plan du gouvernement du Honduras pour la prévention des grossesses chez les adolescents en renforçant les politiques nationales et en augmentant l'accès aux services de santé sexuels et reproductifs des jeunes du Honduras. Le projet aide à prévenir les grossesses chez les adolescents et les mariages d'enfants, mariages en bas âge et mariages forcés, ainsi qu'augmenter l'accès à des services de santé adaptés pour les adolescents pour plus de 211 000 filles, garçons et adolescents dans 24 municipalités possédant les plus hauts niveaux de grossesses chez les adolescents en installant des cliniques adaptées aux adolescents dans les écoles et les centres communautaires de santé. This project aims to improve g...lobal, regional and country progress towards the elimination of HIV infection in mothers and children by supporting the Secretariat of the Interagency Task Team on the Prevention and Treatment of HIV Infection in Pregnant Women, Mothers and Children . The Interagency Task Team is a technical partnership coordinated by UNICEF and the World Health Organization and works with country policy and program leaders. Project activities include: (1) sharing information on the latest developments, lessons learned and models of best practice related to the elimination of mother-to-child transmission (eMTCT) and paediatric and adolescent HIV; and (2) providing technical assistance and guidance to advance the eMTCT agenda and to strengthen its integration with maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health programs and services in countries with a high HIV burden. This support contributes to GAC's broader efforts of reducing infant mortality and maternal deaths / This project aims to improve global, regional and country progress towards the elimination of HIV infection in mothers and children by supporting the Secretariat of the Interagency Task Team on the Prevention and Treatment of HIV Infection in Pregnant Women, Mothers and Children . This initiative will pilot an online e-marketplace platform, like Amazon, to improve access by any country and organization to WHO-certified commodities using a global online catalogue of affordable and accessible drugs and health equipment. Savings will be achieved through procurement levers such as order aggregation, product standardization, new procurement mechanisms, early payments and increased volumes. This initiative will simplify the procurement process, and will increase market transparency around the cost of health commodities.

This initiative will improve t...he procurement of health commodities in developing countries by simplifying the process and reducing their cost. This initiative will pilot an online e-marketplace platform, like Amazon, to improve access by any country and organization to WHO-certified commodities using a global online catalogue of affordable and accessible drugs and health equipment. Savings will be achieved through procurement levers such as order aggregation, product standardization, new procurement mechanisms, early payments and increased volumes. This initiative will simplify the procurement process, and will increase market transparency around the cost of health commodities.

This project is part of the De...partment of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), funded by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES). The IYIP contributes to the YES by providing a large spectrum of Canadian graduates with valuable international development work experience abroad, needed to launch successful careers.The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation offers 40 Canadian interns internships in nine countries: Bhutan, Bolivia, Gambia, Ghana, Haiti, Jamaica, South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda. The internships focus on increasing food security, stimulating sustainable economic growth and capacity-building. Interns assist in preparing educational and communications materials, facilitating and designing workshops, organizing events and managing projects./ Ce projet fait partie du Programme de stages pour les jeunes (PSIJ) du Ministère des Affaires étrangères, Commerce et Développement (MAECD), financé par la Stratégie emploi jeunesse (SEJ) du gouvernement du Canada, sous le volet Objectif carrière. Le PSIJ vise à offrir aux jeunes Canadiens titulaires d'un diplôme postsecondaire la possibilité d'acquérir une expérience professionnelle en participant au développement international, nécessaire pour amorcer une carrière réussie.Le Conseil atlantique pour la coopération internationale permet à 40 stagiaires canadiens d'intervenir dans neuf pays, soit au Bhutan, en Bolivie, en Gambie, au Ghana, en Haïti, en Jamaïque, en Afrique du Sud, au Kenya et en Ouganda. The ultimate outcome of this p...roposal is to improve the health and rights of women, adolescent girls, and children in situations of vulnerability in 11 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The project addresses gaps in health services for vulnerable populations, such as women, indigenous and afro-descendant populations, and people living in remote areas. To that end, the project focuses on three components: (1) strengthening health systems; (2) reducing the burden of leading diseases, and; (3) improving nutrition. The project will (i) facilitate a better usage of essential health services; (ii) enhancing management by national health authorities of leading diseases; (iii) improve nutritional practices in targeted populations. / Le résultat ultime de ce projet est l'amélioration de la santé et des droits des femmes, des adolescentes, et des enfants en situation de vulnérabilité dans 11 pays de l'Amérique latine et des Antilles (ALA). Ces pays sont les suivants : Bolivie, Colombie, Équateur, Guatémala, Guyane, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Pérou et Suriname. Le projet s'attaque aux carences dans la prestance des services de santé aux populations vulnérables telles que les femmes, les groupes autochtones et des descendances afro-antillaise, ainsi que les personnes vivant en régions éloignés. Pour cela, le projet va travailler sur trois composantes : (1) renforcement des systèmes de santé; (2) réduction du fardeau des principales maladies, et ; (3) amélioration de la nutrition. Le projet va contribuer à (i) faciliter une meilleure utilisation des soins de santé de bases ; (ii) renforcer la gestion par les autorités locales des principales maladies ; (iii) améliorer les habitudes alimentaires chez les populations cibles.

This project aims to improve s...exual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for vulnerable adolescent girls and boys through an adolescent-friendly approach focused on preventing and reducing unwanted pregnancies, HIV/AIDS and sexual and gender-based violence. Project activities include: (1) strengthening SRHR healthcare services through capacity development of health networks; (2) mobilizing adolescent groups and organizations to improve their awareness and capacity to engage on SRHR issues; and (3) improving the policy and operational environment at subnational levels for preventing unwanted pregnancies, HIV/AIDS and sexual and gender-based violence. The initiative is implemented by UNICEF, as part of their Bolivia country program, in collaboration with Save the Children./Ce projet vise à améliorer la santé et les droits sexuels et reproductifs (SDSR) des adolescentes et des adolescents vulnérables grâce à une approche adaptée aux adolescents axée sur la prévention et la réduction des grossesses non désirées, du VIH/sida, et de la violence sexuelle et la violence fondée sur le sexe (VSFS). Les activités du projet comprennent : 1) le renforcement des services de SDSR grâce au développement des capacités des réseaux de santé; 2) mobiliser les groupes et les organisations d'adolescents pour améliorer leurs connaissances et leur capacité à s'engager sur les questions de SDSR; 3) améliorer l'environnement politique et opérationnel aux niveaux infranationaux pour prévenir les grossesses non désirées, le VIH/sida et la VSFS. L'initiative est mise en œuvre par l'UNICEF, dans le cadre de son programme-pays pour la Bolivie, en collaboration avec Save the Children.

ICAD's 2-year IYIP initiative gives 40 Canadian youth internships in 10 countries. Internships focus on the community health sector and respond to the needs expressed by the local host organizations. Half of the internships take place in sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean, which remain at the epicenter of the global HIV epidemic. The remainder take place in regions of South East Asia where already high HIV prevalence rates continue to rise among key affected populations (people who use drugs, sex workers, transgender people, men who have sex with men, youth, women and girls). / Ce projet fait partie du Programme de stages pour les jeunes (PSIJ) du Ministère des Affaires étrangères, Commerce et Développement (MAECD), financé par la Stratégie emploi jeunesse (SEJ) du gouvernement du Canada, sous le volet Objectif carrière. Le PSIJ vise à offrir aux jeunes Canadiens titulaires d'un diplôme postsecondaire la possibilité d'acquérir une expérience professionnelle en participant au développement international. Dans le cadre du PSIJ, l'initiative de deux ans de la Coalition interagence sida et développement (CISD) offre à l'intention des jeunes Canadiens et Canadiennes, 40 stages dans 10 pays. Les stages visent le secteur de la santé communautaire et répondent aux besoins exprimés par l'organisation hôte. La moitié des stages se déroulent en Afrique subsaharienne et dans les Caraibes, deux régions qui se situent toujours à l'épicentre de l'épidémie mondiale du VIH.
