The overall goal of the programme, to reduce the malaria morbidity and mortality by 75% (using 2012 as baseline) by the year 2020, continued to be pursued in 2014. This initiative involved the collection of baseline data on medicinal plants and their uses, motivating people towards the uses an...d practices, identification and knowledge sharing with the traditional healers, establishment of an electronic database and carrying out specific conservation measures and awareness activities. This document also provides a number of recommendations to ensure sustainability of such initiatives for safeguarding medicinal plants and indigenous knowledge associated with them. We sincerely hope that this account will be useful to the people interested in medicinal plants, especially in developing countries.

Health Situation of Children in Southern Africa
The impacts of El Niño and La Niña are expected to more than double the regular caseloads of childhood illnesses (malaria, cholera, pneumonia, measles and diarrhoea) in the most affected countries.
• Diarrhoea cases among children are expec...ted to increase up to 4 times that of the regular yearly cases.
• Projections of pneumonia cases among children show a 1.5 times increase in cases.
• An estimated 11.8 million children are likely to be affected by malaria, cholera, diarrhoea, measles and/or pneumonia, with 7.5 million of these cases directly related to the impacts of El Nino.

The aim of this paper is to map and critically analyse evidence of good practice in prevention and response to gender-based violence (GBV) in humanitarian contexts which can support humanitarian practitioners and policy makers to improve the quality of GBV programming in the field. The paper is stru...ctured as follows. Following a brief discussion of key concepts and definitions in relation to GBV, Chapter 2 presents an overview of the extent of GBV in emergencies, and some of the challenges in responding to the problem. Chapter 3 then analyses some of the literature on the evidence of GBV programming effects in humanitarian settings, and draws out key lessons with regard to good practice. Chapter 4 discusses some of the key issues emerging from this review, and Chapter 5 concludes the paper with a discussion of the implications of the findings for research, policy and programming on GBV.
