In South Africa, young women and girls are exposed to extremely high levels of gender-based violence (GBV) and HIV infection. Given the links between the two epidemics, it is important that HIV prevention programmes also address violence against women and children. The Global Fund’s Young Women an...d Girls (YWG) programme is a multi-pronged HIV prevention programme targeting young women and girls and was implemented in 10 districts in South Africa from April 2016 to March 2019. EVALUATION REPORT | Cette évaluation représente la première tentative mondiale d’examiner les interventions programmatiques de l’UNICEF menées dans le but de protéger les enfants lors des situations ’urgence. Elle a pour objectif de renforcer la programmation en matière de protection de ...l’enfance en évaluant les résultats accomplis au cours des dernières années, ainsi que de tirer des enseignements et faire des recommandations susceptibles d’avoir une influence sur les programmes en cours et futurs. Les conclusions de l’évaluation étaieront la mise en œuvre du Plan stratégique pour la période 2014-2017. L’évaluation comprend des études de cas nationales analysant les résultats en faveur des enfants à la lumière du plan stratégique à moyen terme (PSMT, 2006-2013), des Principaux engagements pour les enfants dans l’action humanitaire et des thèmes choisis pour l’évaluation. Douze pays ont fourni des données pour l’analyse, quatre sous forme d’études de cas avec visites dans le pays et rapports spéciaux (Colombie, Pakistan, République démocratique du Congo (RDC) et Soudan du Sud) et huit autres pays sous forme d’études théoriques (Afghanistan, État de Palestine, Haïti, Myanmar, Philippines, Somalie, Soudan et Sri Lanka). Quatre des pays (Haïti, Myanmar, Pakistan et Philippines) sont frappés par des catastrophes naturelles et des conflits soudains tandis que les autres souffrent surtout de conflits de longue durée connaissant parfois des éruptions soudaines de violence.

Findings from this report reveal that, rates of early marriage are high, a significant percentage of children contribute to the household’s income or are its main source of income, and restrictions on the mobility of women and girls constrain their participation in social and economic activities a...nd their access to basic services. As the overwhelming majority of refugees do not have paid employment and rely mainly on aid and dwindling family resources, the more the situation of displacement is prolonged the greater the likelihood of higher rates of child labour for boys and early marriage for girls.

This baseline survey target districts are Babile, an...d Kersa in East Hararghe, and Mieso woreda in West Hararghe zone. Babile woreda has a population of 117,682 residing in 22 kebeles. The woreda hosts 14, 545 displaced households from neighboring region Somali. Kersa woreda bordered on the south by Bedeno, on the west by Meta, on the north by Dire Dawa, on the northeast by Haro Maya, and on the southeast by Kurfa Chele. The woreda has a population of 243,544 peoples residing in 38 kebeles and it has hosted 874 household IDPs displaced from Somali region. Mieso woreda is bordered on the south by Guba Koricha, on the west by the Afar Region, on the north by the Somali Region, on the east by Doba and on the southeast by Chiro. It has a total population of 130,709.

Monitoring financial protection and utilization of health services in Mongolia 2009-2018 is based on national representative household socioeconomic surveys. The study finds that between 2009 and 2018, despite ambitious health reforms, the incidence of catastrophic health spending and impoverishing ...spending at the relative poverty line have increased. These increases were mainly driven by out-of-pocket spending on medicines and inpatient care. In the same period, inequity in access to and utilization of health services remained constant among population groups. Evidence suggests health financing policies need to be further strengthened to make progress towards universal health coverage. Continuous tracking of out-of-pocket payments and service utilization to inform policymaking is needed.

On November 9, the Russian military announced a full retreat of all their forces from the right bank of Dnipro River; by November 11, 41 settlements, including Kherson city, were de-occupied by Ukrainian forces. Civilians who live in these areas have endured months of combat and occupation. Services... have been interrupted or severely disrupted due to damage or destruction of facilities and infrastructure through combat actions, looting of the majority of the valuable assets by the retreating Russian troops, and dispersion of the people rendering said services.
