This World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) joint guidelines production aims at harnessing the contribution of employers and workers towards the control of TB. It covers all the practical steps involved in establishing TB control activities, including (for la...rge employers) starting and running a workplace TB control programme. They are intended for use in all countries in which TB incidence is high and the target audience for the guidelines includes employers, employee organizations, NTP managers, and agencies providing technical support for TB control.

During the past five decades, the incidence of dengue has increased 30-fold. Some 50–100 million new infections are estimated to occur annually in more than 100 endemic countries, with a documented further spread to previously unaffected areas; every year hundreds of thousands of severe cases ari...se, including 20 000 deaths; 264 disability-adjusted life years per million population per year are lost , at an estimated cost for ambulatory and hospitalized cases of US$ 514–1394, often affecting very poor populations. The true numbers are probably far worse, since severe underreporting and misclassification of dengue cases have been documented.

Foi adaptado do guia da OMS de Prevenção e controle de infecções durante os cuidados de saúde pa...ra casos prováveis ou confirmados da infecção pelo coronavírus que causa a síndrome respiratória do Oriente Médio (MERS--CoV)1, com base no conhecimento atual da situação na China e em outros países onde foram identificados casos e experiências com a síndrome respiratória aguda grave (SARS)-CoV e MERS-CoV. A OMS atualizará essas recomendações assim que novas informações estiverem disponíveis. Esta orientação destina-se a profissionais de saúde, gerentes de saúde e equipes de PCI na atenção básica em saúde, mas também é relevante para os níveis nacional e subnacional. The marathon to eradicate polio is on its final lap: the world is more than 99% of the way to success. After millennia of living with poliovirus and suffering the paralysis it causes, today nearly all the world’s people live in polio-free countries; two of the three strains of wild poliovirus (WPV...) have been eradicated. Some 20 million people are walking who would have been paralysed had it not been for the efforts of national governments and health workers. If eradicating polio has been a marathon, the finishing line is in sight.
