The WHO South-East Asia (SEA) Region bears a high burden of tuberculosis (TB) and MDR-TB. In 2015, the Region accounted for nearly 200 000 or 35% of the global estimated new RR/MDR-TB cases eligible for treatment. Extensively drug-resistant TB (XDRTB) has also been reported from s...ix countries of the SEA Region. MDR-TB could potentially replace drug-susceptible TB, and constitutes a threat to global public health security. The South- East Asia Regional Response Framework for DR-TB 2017–2021 complements the Ending TB in the South-East Asia Region: Regional Strategic Plan 2016–2020” and outlines key strategies for reducing morbidity, mortality and transmission of DR-TB.

As the global community aims to fulfill its commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the achievement of universal health coverage, dozens of countries have committed to the expansion of community health workers (CHWs) as the front line of their healthcare systems [1, 2]. Robust resea...rch demonstrates CHWs improve access to care, reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality, improve clinical outcomes for chronic diseases, and prevent disease outbreaks [3].
To support the operationalization of quality CHW program design and implementation, USAID, UNICEF, the Community Health Impact Coalition, and Initiatives Inc. have updated and adapted the Community Health Worker Assessment and Improvement Matrix (CHW AIM) Program Functionality Matrix [12]. This tool can be used to identify design and implementation gaps in both small- and national-scale CHW programs, and close gaps in policy and practice.

a dernière mise à jour a été effectuée dans le livret de la PCIME en 2014, mais depuis lors, des mises à jour importantes ont été effectuées sur la prise en charge du jeune nourrisson malade (MJN) âgé de moins de 2 mois. Cette mise à jour 2019 de la section sur le jeune enfant malade Pri...se en charge du jeune enfant malade âgé de moins de 2 mois : IMCI chart booklet. remplace le IMCI chart booklet de 2014. Les nouvelles mises à jour reflètent les récentes lignes directrices sur la prise en charge des infections bactériennes graves possibles (IPSP) chez les jeunes nourrissons lorsque l'orientation vers un spécialiste n'est pas possible, publiées en 2015. Elles comprennent l'évaluation, la classification et l'orientation de la SYI avec PSBI ; et le traitement ambulatoire de la SYI avec infection locale ou respiration rapide (pneumonie) chez les nourrissons âgés de 7 à 59 jours. Les autres mises à jour comprennent : une nouvelle section sur la manière de réévaluer, de classer et de traiter la SYI avec PSBI lorsque l'orientation n'est pas possible dans les établissements de santé ambulatoires par des agents de santé formés à la PCIME ; des changements dans l'évaluation et la prise en charge des jeunes nourrissons pour l'infection par le VIH ; et l'identification des nourrissons de moins de 7 jours de qui ont besoin de soins kangourou.
