The publication of the Second Edition of the Emergency Drug Guidelines represents the culmination of the efforts of the National Drugs and Therapeutics Committee (NDTC) to publish clinical drug guidelines for common diseases seen in Fiji. These guidelines are targeted for health care professionals w...orking at hospitals and at the primary health care settings. It sets the gold standard for the use of drugs in the treatment of emergency medical conditions in Fiji. The guidelines have taken into account the drugs available in the Fiji Essential Medicines Formulary (EMF), 2006 Edition, in recommending treatment approaches. La Estrategia, una vez aplicada, contribuirá a que disminuyan radicalmente las ITS y las muertes relacionadas con dichas infecciones (incluidas las muertes fetales intrauterinas y el cáncer cervicouterino), al tiempo que mejorará la salud individual, la salud sexual de los hombres y las mujeres, ...y el bienestar de las personas en general. Asimismo, guiará los esfuerzos destinados a: acelerar y focalizar las iniciativas de prevención integrales mediante la ampliación de los enfoques comportamentales, biomédicos y estructurales combinados que estén basados en datos científicos; facilitar el acceso de las personas a la información sobre su estado en relación con las ITS; mejorar el acceso a tratamiento y a cuidados integrales a largo plazo cuando sea necesario; y hacer frente a la estigmatización y la discriminación generalizadas. El proyecto de estrategia promueve un enfoque centrado en las personas, basado en los principios de los derechos humanos, la igualdad de género y la equidad sanitaria.

The National Action Plan (NAP) has been developed based on the model recommended in the global Action Plan. Local data on on-going interventions were collected from technical informants in the various areas of work. These were analysed using the policy framework provided by the AMR policy document. ...Interventions were developed to address gaps in all five objectives of the global Action Plan. Further consultations were done to ensure that the recommended interventions were feasible, valid and relevant within the systemic contexts pertaining to the various affected sectors.

Данная публикация является вторым изданием Карманного справочника... «Оказание стационарной помощи детям», первое издание которого было выпущено Всемирной организацией здравоохранения (ВОЗ) в 2005 году. В справочнике собрана информация из обновленных руководств ВОЗ по ведению распространенных заболеваний детского возраста в стационарах первого уровня в странах с низкой обеспеченностью ресурса- ми. Справочник содержит современные клинические рекомендации, основанные на фактических данных, которые могут быть использованы врачами в их повседневной работе в больницах, где есть возможность проведения элементарных лабораторных исследований и имеются в наличии недорогие лекарственные средства.
