This guide provides national stakeholders and advocates with information and guidance to update the national essential medicines list to include a new commodity, a new indication, or a new formulation based on the available evidence and based on country need and disease burden. While the actors, tim...eline, and process may vary from country to country, this guide presents the broad steps involved in revising an EML for any health commodity. La poursuite des conflits dans plusieurs zones du pays, les faiblesses structurell...es conjuguées aux effets socio-économiques de la pandémie de COVID-19 et aux effets dévastateurs des catastrophes naturelles ont plongé 2,8 millions de personnes dans une grande vulnérabilité. Sur ce total, 1,9 million connaissent des besoins humanitaires sévères, un chiffre inégalé depuis 5 ans qui traduit une détérioration du bien-être physique et mental et des conditions de vie des populations dans l’ensemble du pays.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a threat to human and animal health and refers to the ability of microorganisms to defy the medicines prescribed. For instance when antibiotics are used improperly, such as an incorrect dose, insufficient duration or wrong frequency, resistance is heightened. The mi...suse of antimicrobials affects their efficacy, and increasingly more infections and diseases become untreatable. Many gains made in modern medicine throughout the 20th century will be lost, making AMR a global public and animal health issue that requires concerted action. AMR and the use of antimicrobials (AMU) affect food safety and security, people’s livelihoods, as well as economic and agricultural development.
