The mission of this document is to help health professionals to adopt effective measures of CVDPR in the routine
clinical practice. The publication of this document and its broad implementation will contribute to the goal of the World
Health Organization (WHO), which is the reduction of worldwide cardiovascular mortality by 25% until 2025.

ludisme (PNLP), il s’inscrit pleinement dans les objectifs mondiaux fixés par l’Organisation mondiale de la Santé pour parvenir à l’élimination du paludisme d’ici 2030. Ce plan repose sur quatre axes stratégiques : la prévention à travers l’utilisation des moustiquaires imprégnées, la chimio-prévention et la lutte antivectorielle ; la prise en charge efficace des cas grâce au diagnostic rapide et au traitement par ACT ; le renforcement du système de santé et la gestion du programme ; ainsi que la surveillance, le suivi et l’évaluation des interventions. Une attention particulière est accordée à la digitalisation des outils, à l’amélioration de la qualité des données, à l’implication des communautés locales et à la réduction des inégalités régionales dans l’accès aux services. Intégrant les partenaires techniques et financiers, le secteur privé et les acteurs communautaires, ce document constitue une véritable feuille de route nationale pour coordonner et intensifier la lutte contre le paludisme sur la période 2023–2026.

Le personnel de la santé joue un rôle primordial, en ce qui concerne la protection de leurs clients contre les maladies infectieuses et leurs traitements en cas d’infection. Dans le cadre de leur travail, le personnel de santé accomplisse des tâches cliniques ou autres activités susceptibles de les exposer ainsi que leurs clients aux microorganismes – orga- nismes potentiellement infectieux. Bon nombre de ces clients sont malades et, par conséquent, sont plus vulnérables aux infections ou peuvent avoir des infec-tions susceptibles d’être transmises à d’autres personnes. Par chance, l’ensemble du personnel travaillant dans les services de santé est en mesure d’exécuter des procédés simples visant à minimiser le risque – vis-à-vis d’eux-mêmes et de leurs clients – et réduire la propagation des infections. Ces pratiques peuvent être intégrées à moindre frais dans les habitudes quotidiennes au sein des établissements de santé du monde entier. Ce guide de référence est spécialement conçu pour l’emploi à tous les niveaux du système sanitaire, depuis les plus grands hôpitaux jusqu’aux plus petits dispensaires ou centres de santé, dans des établissements où les ressources sont rares.Ce guide, publié pour la première fois en 1999, a été mis à jour. Bien que la plu-part des pratiques restent inchangées, il a fait l’objet de quelques modifications significatives – par exemple, concernant les recommandations liées au lavage des mains et aux précautions standard. Toutefois, ce guide continue de présenter des recommandations pratiques en matière de procédés simples et relativement peu coûteux pouvant être exécutés partout, à l’aide des matériels de base et des équi-pements de niveau technologique moyen.

hat SSA is now at the dawn of the epidemiological transition with contemporary double burden of disease from NCDs and communicable diseases. In SSA, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the most frequent causes of NCDs deaths, responsible for approximately 13% of all deaths and 37% of all NCDs deaths. Although ischemic heart disease (IHD) has been identified as the leading cause of CVDs mortality in SSA followed by stroke and hypertensive heart disease from statistical models, real field data suggest IHD rates are still relatively low. The neglected endemic CVDs of SSA such as endomyocardial fibrosis and rheumatic heart disease as well as congenital heart diseases remain unconquered. While the underlying aetiology of heart failure among adults in high-income countries (HIC) is IHD, in SSA the leading causes are hypertensive heart disease, cardiomyopathy, rheumatic heart disease, and congenital heart diseases. Of concern is the tendency of CVDs to occur at younger ages in SSA populations, approximately two decades earlier compared to HIC. Obstacles hampering primary and secondary prevention of CVDs in SSA include insufficient health care systems and infrastructure, scarcity of cardiac professionals, skewed budget allocation and disproportionate prioritization away from NCDs, high cost of cardiac treatments and interventions coupled with rarity of health insurance systems. This review gives an overview of the descriptive epidemiology of CVDs in SSA, while contrasting with the HIC and highlighting impediments to their management and making recommendations.
