HAT diagnosis in non-endemic countries is rare and can be challenging, but alertness and
surveillance must be maintained to contribute to WHO’s elimination goals. Early detection is
particularly important as it co...nsiderably improves the prognosis.more
Conducting simulations and drills is the most effective way to evaluate and test disaster preparedness plans; these exercises are used widely by organizations and institutions working in development and in disaster response. Drills and simulations are also excellent tools for training, and for asses...sing decision making processes, teamwork, and coordination.more
The Zithromax® Supply Chain Assessment Tool is designed to guide assessment team members through a series of interviews
with key informants and to establish inspection procedures when conducting logistics field assessments. The protocol allows
the assessment team to examine the readiness of the N...ational Trachoma Control Program and the District- level health
management structures to receive, manage, distribute and administer donated Zithromax® for mass drug administratimore
This Guidance was developed in response to the increase in HIV-related human rights crises and the shrinking civic space for rights-related responses to HIV in recent years across the world. This document builds upon existing guidance documents, offering updated guidance for country-based United Nat...ions staff (United Nations Country Teams) and partners to use their respective mandates to coordinate effective responses to human rights-related crises within the framework of the Resident Coordinator system, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, global HIV and human rights strategies and frameworks.more
More and more countries are completing their epidemiological mapping of trachoma in suspected
endemic districts and are preparing to distribute Zithromax® in those districts where the prevalence of
“trachomatous inflammation – follicular” (TF) is above 5% among children aged 1-9 years. Mass... drug
administration (MDA) is normally at the district level and targets the whole population with Zithromax®
tablets to those 5 years old and above; Zithromax® suspension for children between 6 months and 5
years of age; and tetracycline eye ointment 1% for infants up to 6 months old.more
Trachoma is the world’s leading infectious cause of blindness. It is one of 18 neglected
tropical diseases (NTDs) that affect over one billion of the world’s poorest people.
The resources provide both the older as well as the updated Operational Guidelines for antiretroviral therapy centres, including administrative issues, functions and establishment of centres, reporting and recording tools, measures to improve retention in HIV care, supply chain management of drugs a...nd various other aspects that are essential to ensure quality treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS. more
The toolkit is a collection of assessment tools and checklists that describe the key considerations to be taken into account when transitioning to Option B/B+. The toolkit provides a roadmap to support the planning and implementation of Option B/B+, and to help countries scale up more effective inte...rventions and programs to achieve the goals of the Global Plan Towards the Elimination of New HIV Infections among Children by 2015 and Keeping their Mothers Alive.more
