This document provides guidance to Ministries of Health (MOHs), laboratory personnel and implementing partners in African Union Member States on the application of rapid antigen tests to COVID-19 testing. The guidance serves as reference for policymakers, laboratory leads, implementing... partners, and experts on use case scenarios and associated testing algorithms for COVID-19 antigen tests. It recommends the use of antigen tests to increase access to testing and enable timely results for persons with or without symptoms in specific settings. The document will be reviewed and updated as more evidence becomes available regarding the use of rapid antigen tests for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) from global studies and evaluation efforts.

In addition, IOM will focus its efforts on addressing data gaps, enhan...cing national and community preparedness, response and recovery efforts, ensuring that affected people have access to basic services, commodities and protection as well as mitigating the socioeconomic impact of COVID-19.

Access to medicines is essential for attainment of universal health coverage, which is central to achievement of the health-related Sustainable Development Goals. Controlled medicines include those such as opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, amphetamines and others with identified or emergent cl...inical indications. WHO recognizes that these medicines are necessary for pre- and post-operative care, for sedation, for the management of both acute and chronic pain, for palliative care, as anticonvulsants (anti-epileptics), for the management of anxiety disorders and for the management of substance use disorders, including as opioid agonist therapy (OAT).

Contrairement à d'autres domaines d'intervention, la CREC fait largement appel aux bénévoles, au personnel de première ligne et aux personnes qui n'ont pas reçu de formation préalable dans ce domaine. En tant que tel, le document fournit des informations de base, couvre les aspects socio-économiques et culturels (qui sont connus au moment de la publication), et fournit les derniers conseils et approches fondés sur des données probantes basés sur les Directives de l'OMS : Communiquer les risques dans les situations d'urgence en santé publique, 2018.
