This document updates the earlier version published in April 2020. In recent weeks, information on the potential use of chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of people with COVID-19 has been disseminated in academic journals and public media. Although there are now ongoing clinical tri...als testing the efficacy and safety of several medicines for COVID-19, as of the date of this document, there is a lack of quality evidence to demonstrate chloroquine and/or hydroxychloroquine are effective in the treatment of COVID-19. The report – Global Status Report on Preventing Violence Against Children 2020 – is the first of its kind, charting progress in 155 countries against the “INSPIRE” framework, a set of seven strategies for preventing and responding to violence against children. The report signals a clear need... in all countries to scale up efforts to implement them. While nearly all countries (88%) have key laws in place to protect children against violence, less than half of countries (47%) said these were being strongly enforced.
The report includes the first ever global homicide estimates specifically for children under 18 years of age – previous estimates were based on data that included 18 to 19-year olds. It finds that, in 2017, around 40,000 children were victims of homicide.

COVID-19: Travel, Points of Entry and Border Health
Children in refugee situations face many potential dangers, such as violence, abuse, exploitation, discrimination, separation from their families, trafficking and military recruitment. The impact of these experiences can be devastating and long-lasting. Children have different needs from adults and ...these needs can only be identified and met if they are approached in a way that is specific to children.
The impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic has exacerbated the dangers faced by children in refugee situations and laid bare the need for their protection and for ensuring that all their human rights are upheld all the time.
The goal of this publication is to share examples of approaches by members of the Initiative that have proven effective for children.

Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent even if is largely curable and
preventable. In 2019 an estimated 2.9 million of the 10 million people who fell ill with TB were not
diagnosed or reported to the World Health Organization1. The Politi...cal Declaration adopted by the United
Nations General Assembly in September 2018 commits, amongst others, to diagnosing and treating 40
million people with TB. In order to achieve these ambitious targets, there is an urgent need to deploy
strategies to improve diagnosis and initiation of care for people with TB. One of them is systematic
screening for TB disease, which is included in the End TB Strategy as a central component of its first pillar
to ensure early diagnosis for all with TB.
