The US Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Systems for Increased Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) Program, with support from the US Government’s Presidential Malaria Initiative (PMI), is working with the Government of Guinea to improve the national malaria reporting system. By the end of September 2013, after only a few months of training in all 19 PMI-supported zones, reporting rates had improved significantly, reaching an average completion rate of 85 percent for health facilities during the previous quarter.

The Health Cluster is closely collaborating with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to prepare for, prevent, and respond to public health emergencies by mobilizing resources to enable health partners to provide life-saving health services to vulnerable populations.

h a wide range of training, experience, scope of practice and integration in health systems. In the context of this study, we use the term community-based practitioner (CBPs) to reflect the diverse nature of these cadres of health workers.
CBPs provide preventive, promotive, curative and palliative services across a range of areas, including reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health, HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, control of other endemic diseases, and noncommunicable diseases. Significant evidence has emerged over the past two decades on their effectiveness, which has triggered interest in the potential to use their services to expand access to care, in particular in rural and underserved areas where deployment and retention of more qualified health workers is problematic. Calls have been made to integrate CBP programmes in human resources and health strategies, and to scale up rapidly the extent and coverage of CBP initiatives.

tropical diseases preventive chemotherapy databank, the Expanded Special Project for Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (ESPEN) portal and other publications. In the African Region there are 35 countries endemic for LF. The Gambia was reclassified as not requiring preventive chemotherapy in 2015, while Togo and Malawi eliminated LF as a public health problem in 2017 and 2020, respectively. Cameroon discontinued mass drug administration (MDA) and transitioned to post-MDA surveillance to validate elimination. The trajectory of coverage continues to accelerate; treatment coverage increased from 0.1% in 2000 to 62.1% in 2018. Geographical coverage has also significantly increased, from 62.7% in 2015 to 78.5% in 2018. In 2019, 23 of 31 countries requiring MDA achieved 100% geographic coverage. Although much remains to be done, morbidity management and disability prevention services have steadily increased in recent years. Vector control interventions conducted by other programmes, particularly malaria vector control, have had a profound effect in stopping transmission in some endemic countries in the region. In conclusion, significant progress has been made in the LF programme
in the region while we identify the key remaining challenges in achieving an Africa free of LF.

ludisme (PNLP), il s’inscrit pleinement dans les objectifs mondiaux fixés par l’Organisation mondiale de la Santé pour parvenir à l’élimination du paludisme d’ici 2030. Ce plan repose sur quatre axes stratégiques : la prévention à travers l’utilisation des moustiquaires imprégnées, la chimio-prévention et la lutte antivectorielle ; la prise en charge efficace des cas grâce au diagnostic rapide et au traitement par ACT ; le renforcement du système de santé et la gestion du programme ; ainsi que la surveillance, le suivi et l’évaluation des interventions. Une attention particulière est accordée à la digitalisation des outils, à l’amélioration de la qualité des données, à l’implication des communautés locales et à la réduction des inégalités régionales dans l’accès aux services. Intégrant les partenaires techniques et financiers, le secteur privé et les acteurs communautaires, ce document constitue une véritable feuille de route nationale pour coordonner et intensifier la lutte contre le paludisme sur la période 2023–2026.

La Stratégie nationale de communication pour le paludisme 2017–2020 de la République Démocratique du Congo vise à améliorer les comportements de prévention, de détection et de traitement du paludisme à travers une communication sociale et comportementale (CSC) structurée et contextuelle.

Élaborée par le Programme National de Lutte contre le Paludisme (PNLP), elle s’inscrit dans la vision d’un accès équitable aux messages de santé et à des services de qualité pour toute la population.
Cette stratégie met l’accent sur l’adoption de pratiques essentielles telles que l’utilisation correcte des moustiquaires imprégnées, le recours systématique au test de diagnostic rapide avant tout traitement, la prise en charge précoce des cas, en particulier chez les enfants de moins de cinq ans et les femmes enceintes, ainsi que l’adhésion complète aux traitements prescrits. Elle cible prioritairement les ménages, les femmes enceintes, les enfants, les agents de santé communautaires, les enseignants, les leaders religieux et les médias.
Pour atteindre ses objectifs, la stratégie mobilise plusieurs canaux de communication, notamment les médias de masse (radio, télévision, affichage), la communication interpersonnelle via les agents communautaires, et des campagnes de mobilisation sociale. Elle identifie également plusieurs obstacles, tels que les croyances erronées, le faible niveau d’éducation sanitaire et les disparités d’accès à l’information dans les zones rurales.
Enfin, le document propose des mécanismes de suivi et d’évaluation clairs, avec des indicateurs pour mesurer l’exposition aux messages, la compréhension, et les changements de comportement au sein des communautés.
