The State of the world’s nursing 2020 report provides the latest, most up-to-date evidence on and policy options for the global nursing workforce. It also presents a compelling case for considerable – yet feasible – investment in nursing education, jobs, and leadership.
The primary chapters... of the report outline the role and contributions of nurses with respect to the WHO “triple billion” targets; the health labour market and workforce policy levers to address the challenges to nurses working to their full potential; the findings from analysis of National Health Workforce Account (NHWA) data from 191 Member States and progress in relation to the projected shortfall of nurses by 2030; and forward-looking policy options for an agenda to strengthen the nursing workforce to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals, improve health for all, and strengthen the primary health care workforce on our journey towards universal health coverage.

Kenya reported its first case of COVID-19 on 12 March 2020 and, as at 7 April 2020, 172 cases had been confirmed and 6 deaths reported. The Government of Kenya has taken a number of measures to curb the spread of the virus, including implementing a curfew, restricting movement out and into four coun...ties, including Nairobi Metropolitan, and closing most of the urban and rural markets to enforce social distancing. However, these measures, along with the global economic shock caused by the pandemic, are expected to generate new needs, requiring an immediate and urgent response.

Funding requirements have not yet been estimated for a number of countries. For this reaso...n, individual country requirements will be provided in the next update of the Global Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP).
The COVID-19 Global HRP is a joint effort by members of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC), including UN, other international organizations and NGOs with a humanitarian mandate, to analyse and respond to the direct public health and indirect immediate humanitarian consequences of the pandemic, particularly on people in countries already facing other crises.

A la suite de l’annonce de la confirmation de deux premiers cas de COVID-19 en Haïti le 19 mars par le Ministère de la santé, le gouvernement a entrepris des mesures telles que la réduction des heures de travail, la fermeture des frontières Haïtiano-dominicaines pour le transport de personne...s (le transport de marchandises est maintenu) ou la fermeture des usines textiles et des écoles. Certains marchés ont vu une augmentation massive de la clientèle, qui dans certains cas s’est traduite par une augmentation modérée à importante des prix entre le 17 et le 24 mars, allant jusqu’à 28 % d’augmentation pour le pois noir au Cap-Haïtien.

Le COVID-19 est un nouveau coronavirus, proche de celui du Syndrome Respiratoire Aigu Sévère (SRAS) qui avait été à l’origine d’une épidémie meurtrière en 2003. L’infection par ce nouveau coronavirus se manifeste le plus souvent par une fièvre et des signes respiratoires pouvant se co...mpliquer par un syndrome de détresse respiratoire aiguë. Jusqu’à présent, la plupart des cas graves ont été signalés chez des personnes souffrant d’autres problèmes de santé, comme le cancer, le diabète ou une maladie rénale ; ou encore parmi des travailleurs de la santé qui sont en contact étroit avec les malades.

Además, los sistemas de salud pueden verse desbordados en capacidad de atención: los servicios de emergencia, las instalaciones de hospitalización y los servicios de medicina intensiva e intermedia. La limitación de instrumental de trabajo, medicamentos, equipos de protección puede llevar a tomar medidas no compasivas ni equitativas.
