Afin de mesurer le niveau et les tendances des indicateurs relatifs à la situation des enfants et des femmes, l'UNICEF a élaboré, depuis les années 1990, le programme mondial des enquêtes MICS. Ce programme international permet une comparabilité des indicateurs entre les différents pays. Cett...e enquête dénommé MICS Urbaine Dakar fait suite aux MICS1 et MICS2 réalisées respectivement en 1996 et 2000. Les résultats présentés dans ce rapport constituent à la fois une évaluation des progrès réalisés dans le respect des engagements convenus au niveau international par l’Etat du Sénégal, et une situation de référence pour le suivi des Objectifs de Développement Durable à l’horizon 2030.

Objectif. L’objectif central de cette thèse est d’évaluer, dans des conditions réelles d’implantation, les effets du programme burkinabé de prise en charge communautaire du paludisme sur le recours aux soins de...s enfants fébriles. Les objectifs spécifiques sont : (1) de sonder les perceptions des ASC à l’égard du programme et explorer les facteurs contextuels susceptibles d’affecter leur performance ; (2) d’estimer le recours aux ASC par les enfants fébriles et identifier ses déterminants ; (3) de mesurer, auprès des enfants fébriles, le changement des pratiques de recours aux soins induit par l’introduction d’une intervention concomitante – la gratuité des soins dans les centres de santé.

Scientists have known for more than half a century that patients could develop resistance to the drugs used to treat them. Alexander Fleming, who is credited with creating the first antibiotic, penicillin, in 1928, cautioned of the impending crisis while accepting his Nobel prize in 1945: “There ...is the danger that the ignorant man may easily underdose himself and by exposing his microbes to non-lethal quantities of the drug make them resistant.” Since then antibiotics have proved one of the most effective interventions in human medicine. Sadly, the overuse and misuse of this precious resource have brought us to a global crisis of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). To address this crisis nearly seven decades after Fleming’s lecture the first UN general assembly meeting on drug resistance bacteria was convened in September 2017.
