Due to safety concerns, pregnant women are often excluded from antimalarial drug trials, which causes long delays in effective medicines becoming available for this vulnerable group. To address this issue, the Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) launched the Malaria in Mothers and Babies (MiMBa) initiative, which aims to accelerate the discovery, development, and delivery of safe antimalarial treatments for pregnant and breastfeeding women. The initiative aims to close critical gaps in research, drug development, and access, ensuring that these women and their babies are better protected against malaria. The video calls for continued efforts to address the needs of underserved populations most affected by malaria.

ion and clinical features of the two diseases, highlighting the diagnostic challenges and strategies for accurate detection. Emerging immunological and genetic evidence indicates that prior exposure to malaria may reduce the severity of outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection through mechanisms involving ACE2 downregulation, TLR signalling, T-cell activation and upregulation of coinhibitory receptors. Additionally, potential control measures are discussed, including vaccine development, the repurposing of antimalarial drugs, the exploration of natural products, innovations in bioinsecticides, and the strengthening of electronic disease surveillance. These insights provide valuable guidance for clinical management and public health policy, while emphasising the need for continued research into the complex interactions between SARS-CoV-2 and malaria.

measure progress in financing the priority areas of SDG3, examine the association between outcomes and financing, and identify where resource gains are most needed to achieve the SDG3 indicators for which data are available. Methods: We estimated domestic health spending, disaggregated by source (government, out-of-pocket, and prepaid private) from 1995 to 2017 for 195 countries and territories. For disease-specific health spending, we estimated spending for HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis for 135 low-income and middle-income countries, and malaria in 106 malaria-endemic countries, from 2000 to 2017. We also estimated development assistance for health (DAH) from 1990 to 2019, by source, disbursing development agency, recipient, and health focus area, including DAH for pandemic preparedness. Finally, we estimated future health spending for 195 countries and territories from 2018 until 2030. We report all spending estimates in inflation-adjusted 2019 US$, unless otherwise stated.

Behandlungsprogramme, die Einbindung aller wichtigen zivilgesellschaftlichen Akteure und Communitys, der Fokus auf die Umsetzung menschenrechtsbasierter Ansätze, Country Ownership sowie transparente Entscheidungsprozesse einschließlich der Mittelvergabe. 2019 sagte Deutschland für die 6. Wiederauffüllungskonferenz für den Zeitraum bis 2022 eine Milliarde Euro zu. 2020 kamen Sonderzahlungen in Höhe von 150 Mio € für den vom GF eingerichteten Covid-19-Krisenreaktionsmechanismus (Covid-19 RM) zur Eindämmung der Pandemie hinzu, in 2021 nochmals 140 Mio. €. Der Mehrbedarf zur Bewältigung der Covid-19 Pandemie ist jedoch unabhängig vom Bedarf für die Bekämpfung von Aids, Tuberkulose und Malaria zu betrachten. Dieser Mehrbedarf darf nicht über das Kernbudget für die Programme des Globalen Fonds gedeckt werden.
