Since 25 August 2017, 688 000 Rohingya refugees escaping violence and persecution in Myanmar have settled in camps, settlements and within host communities in Cox’s Bazar district, Bangladesh, bringing the total number of refugees in the area to more than 900 300.
Imported and local rice prices increased modestly in March. A recovery in economic activity is leading to an improvement in unskilled wage rates (up 7 percent compared to February).
The households who are depending the most on negative coping strategies are in the districts of Kailahun, Kon...o, Bombali, Tonkolili and Koinadugu.
March data continues to show that negative coping strategies are most frequently used by the poorest households, by those living in Ebola-affected rural areas and by households headed by women.

On 3 October 2016, Category 4 Hurricane Matthew cut a path of destruction across the Republic of Haiti. Its devastating winds and heavy rainfall caused widespread damage in the southwest of the country. The most affected departments are Grande-Anse, Sud, Sud-Est and Nippes. A Flash Appeal was launched on 10 October to provide immediate support to 750 000 affected people for the next three months. Within this framework, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) requires USD 9 million to provide immediate crop, livestock and fisheries support to 300 000 hurricane-affected people.

As well Tanzania was an early signatory in the region to international agreements on the rights and welfare of refugee and asylum seekers As of December, 2018, Tanzania host some 284,300 camp-based refugees, 77% of who are children and woman, in Nduta, Nyarugusu and Mtendeli Refugee Camps in Kigoma region in Northwest Tanzania. About 74% are from Burundi, and the remaining 26% are primarily from Democratic republic of Congo.
