it und primärmedizinischen Versorgung von Asylsuchenden in Aufnahmeeinrichtungen“ (PriCare) wurde daher ein Ansatz für ein Gesundheitsmonitoring durch Sekundärnutzung medizinischer Routinedaten in den Ambulanzen der Aufnahmeeinrichtungen für geflüchtete Menschen entwickelt. Hierzu wurde eine Dokumentationssoftware (Refugee Care Manager, RefCare©) zur Digitalisierung und Harmonisierung der Primärdokumentation entwickelt und in Aufnahmeeinrichtungen dreier Bundesländer implementiert. Der Ansatz des verteilten Rechnens in einem Surveillancenetzwerk ermöglicht durch dezentrale aber harmonisierte Analysen, die datenschutzkonforme Sekundärnutzung dieser medizinischen Routinedaten ohne zentrale Speicherung personenbezogener Informationen. Durch eine integrierte Monitoringfunktion können 64 Indikatoren zur Population, Morbidität sowie zu Versorgungsprozessen und -qualität routinemäßig und einrichtungsübergreifend ausgewertet werden. Der Beitrag beschreibt das konzeptionelle und praktische Vorgehen, das technische Verfahren sowie exemplarische Ergebnisse dieses Monitoringsystems.

With high-impact diseases that jump from animals to humans on the rise, these programmes are reducing the risk to lives and livelihoods from national, regional and global disease spread. more

The 2018 Acting on the Call report focuses on 25 countries’ journeys to self-reliance for preventing child and maternal deaths. Self-reliance is a country’s ability to finance and implement solution ... s to its own development challenges. Understanding where countries lie on this effort - known as the journey to self-reliance - helps USAID to best partner with countries and support their efforts.
The report looks at the health status of 25 priority countries as well as the current capacity of the health system to meet the needs of women and children. In the report, we recount progress since the 2012 Call to Action as well as identify gaps in order to inform future programming and areas that need strengthening during the journey to self-reliance. For the first time ever, we’ve calculated the return on our investment to eliminate bottlenecks to improving health services. more

Insufficient iodine during pregnancy and infancy results in neurological and psychological deficits, reducing a child’s IQ by 8 to 10 points. The report outlines urgent steps to reduce the risk of mental impairment to babies’ growing brains:
• Integrate salt iodization into national plans to support children’s nutrition and brain development in early childhood;
• Align salt iodization and salt reduction agendas; • Establish surveillance systems to identify unreached populations;
• Strengthen regulatory systems to enforce existing legislation on salt iodization;
• Recognize the growing importance of fortified foods as potential sources of iodized salt. more
