C’est en agissant prestement sur le front économique que l’on a pu surmonter cette crise sanitaire
L’Afrique de l’Ouest et la communauté internationale ont dû faire face à une crise sanitaire sans précédent lorsqu’a éclaté, en mars 2014, la plus grande épidémie de la maladie... à virus Ébola jamais enregistrée. Celle-ci a fait plus de 11.000 morts et infecté plus de 28.000 personnes entre la fin 2013 et le début 2016.
L’importance des dépenses sanitaires et sociales que cette épidémie a exigées a aussi provoqué une crise économique, qui a été aggravée par l’effondrement presque concomitant des cours des produits de base. Déjà sous pression avant la survenue de l’épidémie, les systèmes sanitaires et sociaux de la Guinée, du Libéria et de la Sierra Leone — pays les plus touchés — ont été submergés.

Aperçu: Cette formation complète de niveau intermédiaire est destinée aux agents de santé de première ligne qui s’occupent de cas suspects ou confirmés de maladie à virus Ebola (MVE). Elle porte sur les domaines suivants : transmission de la MVE (en s’intéressant en particulier aux mesu...res de lutte contre l’infection) ; diagnostic de la maladie ; et prise en charge des cas, avec une présentation générale des centres de traitement d’Ebola (CTE) et des informations sur les traitements expérimentaux. Ces modules présentent des stratégies complètes sur la sécurité des patients et des agents de soins et la préparation à la riposte. La formation pourra être utile aux cliniciens de tout secteur du système de santé, notamment ceux qui travaillent dans des postes de santé, prodiguent des soins de santé primaires ou sont employés par des hôpitaux nationaux ou de district. Une attention particulière est accordée aux soins dispensés dans les CTE.
Objectifs d’apprentissage : À la fin de ce cours, vous serez capable de :
identifier les patients présentant des signes et des symptômes de MVE ;
comprendre la transmission de la MVE ;
comprendre les grands volets de la prise en charge clinique de la MVE ;
connaître les stratégies de lutte contre l’infection;
préparer les établissements, la population et les agents de santé à la riposte à la maladie à virus Ebola ; et
gérer les déchets de façon sécurisée et de procéder à des inhumations sans risque et dans la dignité.

L’impact des interventions de lutte contre le paludisme, ces dernières années, a fortement modifié la répartition géographique du fardeau de la maladie. Selon l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé (OMS), la COVID-19 est la maladie infectieuse causée par le dernier coronavirus qui a été découvert. Ce nouveau virus était inconnu avant l’apparition de la flambée à Wuhan en Chine en décembre 2019.
Cette note d'orientation élaborée par l'UNICEF explique comment le secteur WASH peut mettre en œuvre des mesures de prévention et de contrôle des infections dans les ménages et les communautés. Dans ce rapport, le Partnership for Evidence-Based Response to COVID-19 (PERC), un consortium d’organisations mondiales de santé publique et d’entreprises privées, fait la synthèse des résultats d’une enquête conduite du 29 mars au 17 avril 2020 dans 28 villes des États Membres de l’UA.... Ce rapport présente également les mesures épidémiologiques en matière de transmission de la maladie ainsi que les indicateurs relatives aux déplacements des populations et aux troubles civils. Dans l’ensemble, ces données donnent un aperçu unique des conditions initiales en Afrique pendant cette pandémie en évolution rapide.

En réponse aux premiers cas de maladie à coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) signalés sur le continent, de nombreux États membres de l'Union a...fricaine ont rapidement mis en œuvre des mesures sanitaires et sociales (PHSM) à grande échelle. Ces mesures visaient à réduire la transmission et le nombre de nouveaux cas signalés, à protéger les populations les plus vulnérables et à laisser aux pays le temps de mettre en place des services de soins de santé et de diagnostic essentiels. Si ces actions rapides ont permis aux États membres de gagner du temps, les répercussions socio-économiques négatives se font largement sentir, et les pays étudient actuellement la meilleure façon d'assouplir ces mesures tout en continuant à gérer l'épidémie.

Le Groupe spécial mondial de lutte contre le choléra (GTFCC) a lancé Mettre fin au choléra :
Une feuille de route mondiale pour 2030 (la Feuille de route mondiale) (1). Cette stratégie vise
à réduire de 90 % le nombre de décès dus au choléra dans le monde et à mettre fin à la
malad...ie dans au moins 20 pays d’ici 2030. Elle est organisée selon trois axes principaux :
• assurer une détection et une réponse précoces pour contenir les épidémies(2) ;
• adopter une approche multisectorielle pour prévenir et contrôler le choléra dans les
points chauds ; et
• mettre en place un mécanisme de coordination efficace de l’appui technique, la
mobilisation des ressources et des partenariats aux niveaux local et mondial.

Note technique. Les centres de traitement de choléra fournissent des soins hospitaliers aux patients atteints de choléra
pendant les épidémies. Une prise en charge de qualité et l’isolement des patients atteints du choléra sont
essentiels pour prévenir les décès et aider à lutter con...tre la propagation de la maladie. Traditionnellement,
ces structures sont appelées centres de traitement du choléra (CTC) et unités de traitement du choléra (UTC).
Les CTC sont généralement de grandes structures mises en place au niveau central (zones urbaines, par
exemple), tandis que les UTC sont des structures plus petites, installées en périphérie (zones périurbaines ou
rurales, par exemple). Les CTC/UTC peuvent être mis en place en tant que structures indépendantes dans
des tentes ou à l’intérieur de bâtiments existants ou dans des unités sanitaires. Quelle que soit la structure,
les principes décrits dans ce document doivent être respectés.
