Gerade im Zusammenhang mit der Anerkennung der Notwendigkeit genderbewusste Konflikttransformationsprozesse in der Projektarbeit zu unterstützen, sind psychosoziale Konzepte und Methoden immer wichtiger geworden. Dennoch ist bei vielen MitarbeiterInnen der IZ nach wie vor wenig bekannt, was mit psychosozial eigentlich gemeint ist. Die Diagnose von Traumafolgestörungen bei Kindern ist durch die Tatsache erschwert, dass sie eine Reihe unspezifischer und altersabhängiger Symptome zeigen, die auch bei anderen Störungen auftreten, was unter Umständen zu Fehldiagnosen (ADHS) führen kann.
Aus diesem Grund hat die vorliegende Arbeit zum Ziel, Fachpersonen eine Zusammenstellung grundlegender Informationen zur Entstehung und Diagnostik von Traumafolgestörungen sowie einen Überblick über gängige Diagnoseinstrumente zur Verfügung zu stellen.

These guidelines were developed through a process of literature review and discussion amongst clinicians in the Behavioral Health department and represent a consensus recommendation for service provision for this disorder. The guideline is intended to inform both clinical and administrative practices with the explicit goals of outlining treatment that is: effective, efficient, culturally relevant and acceptable to clinicians, program managers, and patients.

While the priority now remains meeting the goal of zero cases, the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) is also developing a comprehensive strategy aimed at supporting communities to recover from this crisis, to put the country back on track to meet development targets. The Ebola Recovery Strategy – currently being finalised by the GoSL – represents a potentially transformative framework to support the immediate recovery of children from the crisis and to ensure their place in the future development of Sierra Leone.
To date, there has not been a formal process for children to outline their own priorities for recovery to decision-makers. In mid-March 2015, child-centred agencies conducted a Children’s Ebola Recovery Assessment (CERA) in nine districts across Sierra Leone to create a mechanism for more than 1,100 boys and girls, to discuss issues of concern; assess the impact of the crisis on their roles, responsibilities and future opportunities; and to formulate their recommendations for recovery.
