Dans la plupart des pays, les services de lutte contre la tuberculose (TB) sont décentralisés jusqu’aux dispensaires
les plus périphériques et souvent au sein même des villages et des quartiers. Par contre, les services
de lutte contre le VIH/Sida sont généralement beaucoup plus centralis...és parce que la diffusion des
soins, notamment de la thérapie antirétrovirale (TARV), n’a commencé qu’assez récemment. De ce fait,
les patients qui ont besoin d’un traitement à la fois contre la tuberculose et le VIH/Sida peuvent être obligés
de se rendre dans deux établissements distincts et ainsi d’avoir à parcourir de longues distances pour
accéder aux soins. L’absence de services intégrés TB/VIH peut provoquer des retards dans le diagnostic
et le traitement, et même se traduire par un mauvais suivi des traitements, voire par des interruptions. Par
ailleurs, les patients ont à supporter la charge financière des frais de déplacement et des autres coûts indirects,
tels que de longs temps d’attente et une perte de revenu

Le présent Plan National de Développement Sanitaire (PNDS) couvre la période 2009-2018. Il s’inscrit dans la perspective de l’accélération de la mise en œuvre des différents programmes de prévention et d’offres de services de santé. Son objectif est de contribuer à l’atteinte des o...bjectifs du Document de Stratégie de Réduction de la Pauvreté et des Objectifs du Millénaire pour le Développement.
Le PNDS 2009-2018 est le document de référence pour l’ensemble des acteurs du secteur de la santé. Je les engage donc, ainsi que tous les partenaires à se l’approprier et à contribuer à sa mise en œuvre performante.

Après une description de la méthodologie utilisée, le rapport présente le contexte de l’exécution des programmes de santé maternelle et néonatale au Sénégal, les acquis enregistrés, les défis relevés et réponses apportées, avant d’aboutir aux conclusions et recommandations.
Ce guide qui s’adresse à tous les prestataires de soins impliqués dans la prise en charge des enfants, peut être utilisé aussi bien au niveau des structures sanitaires publiques que privées.
Son objectif général est d’améliorer la prise en charge de la tuberculose de l’enfant au Sé...négal et plus spécifiquement de :
• renforcer le dépistage précoce des cas de tuberculose infantile
• proposer une approche standardisée de diagnostic et de traitement de la tuberculose de l’enfant
• proposer une approche standardisée de gestion des cas contacts de tuberculose
• améliorer la prise en charge de la co-infection TB/VIH et de la tuberculose multirésistante de l’enfant
