Enraciné dans les fondements du développement communautaire centré sur l’enfant, le succès de cette stratégie sera mesuré par la façon dont les pays, chacun en ce qui le concerne, contribuent à leurs systèmes de protection des enfants et s’associent à différents niveaux pour combattre... la violence contre les enfants. Cette stratégie est le résultat d’un processus hautement consultatif qui a touché les enfants et les jeunes, le personnel de Plan International, les spécialistes externes à l’échelle mondiale et le document vient d’être mis en place avec les efforts conjoints du groupe de référence mondial sur la programmation en matière de protection des enfants.

La quatrième édition des Lignes directrices de l'OMS pour la qualité de l'eau potable s'appuie sur plus de 50 ans d'orientations sur la qualité de l'eau potable qui font autorité en matière de mesures de santé publique lorsqu’il s’agit de mettre en place des réglementations et des normes... nationales pour garantir la sécurité de l'eau.
Ces lignes directrices s’adressent principalement aux responsables de la réglementation dans le domaine de l’eau et de la santé, aux décideurs et à leurs conseillers, et ont pour objectif d’aider lors de la mise au point de normes nationales. Elles sont aussi utilisées, ainsi que les documents associés, par comme source d’informations sur la qualité et l’hygiène de l’eau et sur les stratégies de gestion efficaces.

Le présent document énonce la première stratégie mondiale du secteur de la santé contre l’hépatite virale, une stratégie qui contribue à la réalisation du Programme de développement durable à l’horizon 2030.
Elle couvre les six premières années du plan d’action pour la santé... de l’après-2015, c’est-à-dire la période 2016-2021, en s’appuyant sur le document Prévention et lutte contre l’hépatite virale : cadre pour l’action mondiale et sur deux résolutions relatives à l’hépatite virale adoptées par l’Assemblée mondiale de la Santé en 2010 et en 2014.
Cette stratégie porte sur les cinq virus de l’hépatite (les hépatites A, B, C, D et E), en mettant plus spécialement l’accent sur les hépatites B et C en raison de la lourde charge relative qu’elles représentent pour la santé publique.

L’évaluation externe de la qualité (EEQ) est une composante importante des systèmes qualité des services de transfusion sanguine. L’EEQ est l’évaluation externe de la qualité générale des résultats obtenus par un laboratoire dans l’analyse d’échantillons de contrôle dont le cont...enu est connu, mais n’a pas été dévoilé, et la comparaison de ces résultats avec ceux qu’ont obtenus d’autres laboratoires qui ont analysé les mêmes échantillons. Dans les laboratoires qui pratiquent le dépistage des infections transmissibles par transfusion (ITT) dans les dons de sang, la participation à l’EEQ aide à surveiller et améliorer la qualité des résultats. Les informations issues de l’EEQ permettent d’améliorer continuellement la qualité en mettant en évidence les erreurs d’un laboratoire et d’appliquer des mesures pour éviter qu’elles se reproduisent. L’EEQ joue ainsi un rôle essentiel dans l’amélioration de la sécurité transfusionnelle.

En 2016, l’ONUSIDA lançait un appel pour que les pays d’Afrique de l’Ouest et du Centre accélérent la riposte au sida. En effet, si dans des pays d’Afrique de l’Est et du Sud les avancées sont réelles, ceux de l’Afrique de l’Ouest et du Centre sont encore en retard dans l’accès... au dépistage et au traitement antirétroviral. Le 3 juillet 2017, les Présidents de l’Union Africaine avaient adopté un plan de rattrapage pour l’Afrique de l’Ouest et du Centre avec l’appui de ONUSIDA, dans le but d’inverser la tendance de l’épidémie et combler les gaps financiers et programmatiques pour l’atteinte des 90-90-90 en 2020. Le Sénégal, à l’instar des pays de la sous région, s’est engagé à élaborer et mettre en œuvre son plan de rattrapage en 2018 pour accélérer les interventions vers l’atteinte de cet objectif. Le plan de rattrapage du Sénégal est lancé officiellement en janvier 2018 au Novotel en présence des autorités, des acteurs et des partenaires.

In South Africa, t...he identification of the first case of pan-‐resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae(Brink et al, J Clin Microbiol. 2013;51(1):369-‐72) marks a watershed moment and highlights ourtip of the antibiotic resistance ‘iceberg’ in this country. Multi-‐drug resistant (MDR)-‐bacterial infections, predominantly in Gram-‐negative bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosaand Acinetobacter baumanniiare now commonplace in South African hospitals. Whilst a number of expensive new antibiotics for Gram-‐positive bacterial infections have been manufactured recently (some of which are licenced for usein South Africa), no new antibiotics active against Gram-‐negative infections are expected in the next 10-‐15years. Plusieurs pays ont montré qu’il était possible de ralentir voire de stopper la transmission interpersonnelle de la COVID-19. Les principales mesures pour arrêter la transmission sont le dépistage actif des cas, les soins et l’isolement, la recherche... des contacts et la quarantaine. L’OMS a publié des recommandations pour la surveillance mondiale de la COVID-19, qui donnent la définition des cas et des contacts pour la déclaration à l’OMS. En plus de la recherche active des cas et du dépistage, il est essentiel d’intensifier les activités de surveillance pour déterminer si la COVID-19 se transmet au sein de la communauté et pour suivre l’évolution de la transmission communautaire.

Cependant, des centaines de millions de personnes s’exposent à un risque accru d’infection en cherchant à obtenir des soins dans des éta...blissements de santé dépourvus de produits de première nécessité, notamment de services d’approvisionnement en eau, d’assainissement et d’hygiène, de gestion des déchets biomédicaux et de nettoyage (services WASH). L’absence de services WASH dans les établissements de santé compromet la sécurité et la dignité des patients, tout en menaçant d’exacerber la propagation d’infections résistantes aux agents antimicrobiens et en fragilisant les efforts déployés pour améliorer la santé des enfants et des mères.

Les géohelminthiases comptent parmi les infections les plus courantes dans le monde, plus de 1,5 milliard de personnes, soit près de 24 % de la population mondiale, étant infestées à l’échelle mondiale. Ces infections touchent les communautés les plus pauvres et les plus défavorisées ayan...t un accès limité à l’eau potable, à l’assainissement et à l’hygiène dans les régions tropicales et subtropicales, la plus forte prévalence étant recensée en Afrique subsaharienne, en Chine, en Amérique du Sud et en Asie. Elles se transmettent par des œufs présents dans les excréments humains, qui contaminent les sols là où les conditions d’assainissement sont insuffisantes. Plus de 260 millions d’enfants d’âge préscolaire, 654 millions d’enfants d’âge scolaire, 108 millions d’adolescentes et 138,8 millions de femmes enceintes ou allaitantes vivent dans des zones où il existe une transmission à grande échelle de ces parasites et nécessitent un traitement et la mise en place de mesures préventives.
