Asimismo, guiará los esfuerzos destinados a: acelerar y focalizar las iniciativas de prevención integrales mediante la ampliación de los enfoques comportamentales, biomédicos y estructurales combinados que estén basados en datos científicos; facilitar el acceso de las personas a la información sobre su estado en relación con las ITS; mejorar el acceso a tratamiento y a cuidados integrales a largo plazo cuando sea necesario; y hacer frente a la estigmatización y la discriminación generalizadas. The National Action Plan (NAP) has been developed based on the model recommended in the global Action Plan. Local data on on-going interventions were collected from technical informants in the various areas of work. These were analysed using the policy framework provided by the AMR policy document. ...Interventions were developed to address gaps in all five objectives of the global Action Plan. The main aim of these guidelines is to enable the central units of national TB and HIV/AIDS programmes to support districts to plan, coordinate and implement collaborative TB/HIV activities. These guidelines reinforce current medical understanding, that highly active antiretroviral treatment (HAART)... has decreased TB incidence of people living with HIV/AIDS. They are comprehensive, giving an overview of the range of activities that could be undertaken in high burden TB/HIV countries or where a rising prevalence of HIV might fuel TB. Activities highlight the need for comprehensive care, prevention and support for adults living with HIV/AIDS. Comprehensive TB and HIV care and prevention rely on full implementation of the DOTS strategy as part of a wide ranging HIV/AIDS care and prevention programme as well as collaborative TB and HIV programme activities.
