Zika virus is primarily transmitted by the Aedes species of mosquito which is also responsible for the spread of dengue, Chikungunya and yellow fever viruses. In most areas, the primary vector of these viruses is Aedes aegypti, with Aedes albopictus a proven or potential vector in some settings. Wel...l-implemented vector control against Aedes using existing tools effectively reduces the transmission of viruses spread by these vectors. The primary objectives of the 2017 TMIS are to measure the level of ownership and use of mosquito nets; assess coverage of intermittent preventive treatment for pregnant women; identify treatment practices, including the use of specific antimalarial medications to treat malaria among c...hildren age 6-59 months; measure the prevalence of malaria and anemia among children age 6-59 months; and assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices among adults with malaria.
This table provides estimates of key indicators for the country as a whole and for each of the 31 geographic regions in Tanzania. A comprehensive analysis of the 2017 TMIS data will be presented in a final report.

The WHO country office for Ghana, began the year 2019 with a 4-day staff retreat at the Busua Beach Resort in the Western Region from 04 to 08 March 2019. The theme for the retreat was ‘Impacting the Health and Lives of the people of Ghana through the Triple Billion Goal”.
