Welcome to the MEDBOX digital library.

You may access MEDBOX® in several ways, including but not limited to the World Wide Web via www.medbox.org, or your mobile phone. In these terms and conditions, "MEDBOX" refers to the MEDBOX® online library and its related tools, operated by the Medical Mission Institute, Würzburg (hereafter referred to as "MMI") - the Catholic Advisory Group for International Health. By accessing the MEDBOX® website, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions of use, which together with our Privacy Policy govern MEDBOX’s and its legal owner’s relationship with you with regards to your use of this website. Should you disagree with any part of these terms and conditions, please do not use this website.

1. Definitions.

The terms " MEDBOX", "us" or "we" refers to the legal identity of MMI, whose registered office address is: Salvatorstrasse 7, D-97074, Würzburg, Germany. MMI is registered under No. 403b 19 of 0311.1931, of the Bavarian Ministry of Home Affairs, in accordance with §22 of the German Civil Code. MMI is the legal owner of the MEDBOX homepage. The term "you" refers to the user or viewer of this website.

The use of this website is subject to the following terms of use:

  • The content of the pages contained on this website is for your personal information and personal use. It is subject to change without notice.

This privacy policy sets out how MEDBOX® uses and protects any information that you provide to MEDBOX while using it and its features.

We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. We may change this policy from time to time by updating this page and you should periodically check this page to ensure that you are happy with any changes.

    • demographic information such as your profession, country of work, professional preferences and interests
    • other information relevant to our user surveys

If you would like a copy of the information held on you, please write to news@medbox.org, or Humanitarian Department, Medical Mission Institute, Würzburg - Advisory group for International health, Salvatorstrasse 7, D-97074, Würzburg, Germany. If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to us or email us as soon as possible. We endeavour to promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

6. Notes on liability.

Responsibility for the content of external links (to web pages of third parties) lies solely with the operators of the linked pages. No violations were evident to us at the time of linking these pages. Should any legal infringement become known to us, we will remove the respective link immediately.

The content of our pages have been created with the utmost care. However, we cannot guarantee the contents' accuracy or completeness. According to statutory provisions of MMI, we are responsible for our own website content. In this context, please note that we are not obliged to monitor merely the transmitted or saved information of third parties, or investigate circumstances pointing to illegal activity. Our obligations to remove or block the use of information under generally applicable laws remain unaffected by this as per §§ 8 to 10 of the Federal Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz 2007, TMG).

7. Notes on copyright.

Our website and its contents are subject to Federal Copyright Law. Unless expressly permitted by law (§ 44a of the copyright law, Urheberrechtsgesetz, UrhG), every form of utilising, reproducing or processing works subject to copyright protection on our website requires the prior consent of the respective owner of the rights. Individual reproductions of a work are allowed only for private use and must not serve either directly or indirectly, commercial activities. MMI and MEDBOX follow the philosophy of creative commons licencing and open access.

8. Notes on registration.

You may access areas of the MEDBOX website that require registration by becoming a registered member and creating your own user account with us. By doing so, you agree to be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your passwords or other account identifiers which you choose and all activities that you conduct through your account. By registering on the MEDBOX website, you agree that:

  1. your account and password are personal to you and may not be used by anyone else to access the MEDBOX website
  2. you will not do anything which would assist anyone who is not a registered user to gain access to any registration area of the MEDBOX website
  3. you will not create registration accounts for the purpose of abusing the functionality of the site, or other users; nor will you seek to pass yourself off as another user
  4. you agree to receive regular newsletters from MEDBOX and may unsubscribe from these at any time
  5. you agree to notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your password or account identifiers.

a. Termination of registration

If you no longer wish to have a registered account, you may terminate your account by sending an email to: news@medbox.org, including details of the email address linked to your registration, stating your wish to terminate your account. If you no longer accept these terms and conditions, or any future modification to these terms and conditions, you must cease using the MEDBOX website. Continued use of the MEDBOX website indicates your acceptance of these or any amended terms and conditions.

If, for any reason, we believe that you have not complied with these terms and conditions, we may, at our sole discretion, cancel your access to the registration areas of MEDBOX website immediately and without prior notice.

We may terminate your registered account, at our sole discretion, by emailing you at the email address you have registered stating that the agreement has been terminated.

9. Use of material appearing on the MEDBOX website.

Your use of the MEDBOX website is for your own personal and non-commercial use only. You acknowledge that all content, except for user content and content authorised for use by others, that the MMI is the sole owner of all content on the MEDBOX website, including, without limitation, all applicable copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, trade names, logos, and other intellectual property rights, as well as text, images, graphics, and other material appearing on the MEDBOX website.
