This project aims to increase ...the income of women entrepreneurs in six indigenous women's federations. It also focuses on improving food security and nutrition in marginalized indigenous populations. Nutritious food products are harvested, processed and sold by the women's federations to the school breakfast program to improve the nutrition and health of local children. Women entrepreneurs increase their agricultural production and their capacity to process food and to market these. They benefit from training, equipment and materials. The local partner for this project is 'Fundacion RENACE'. The project takes place in the La Paz department./ Ce projet vise à augmenter le revenu des femmes entrepreneures dans six fédérations de femmes autochtones. Il se concentre également sur l'amélioration de la sécurité alimentaire et de la nutrition des populations autochtones marginalisées. The project aims to improve th...e well-being of women and girls through evidence-based gender-sensitive policy and programming recommendations on sustaining and scaling up innovations for food and nutrition security. It reviews and learns from the experience of the sub-projects funded under the Canadian International Food Security Research Fund (CIFSRF) Phase 2 project, with special attention to their sustainability and prospects for scaling up, as well as their positive impact on women's empowerment and gender equality. Findings are disseminated to stakeholders of the six sub-projects , as well as to policy-makers in Canada, development partners, and governments of low- and middle-income countries. Data is collected through field visits to six of the CIFSRF sub-projects, interviews with sub-project leaders, and review of secondary material for other projects in the portfolio of the 18 sub-projects funded by CIFSRF. / Le projet vise à améliorer le bien-être des femmes et des filles au moyen de politiques fondées sur des données probantes et tenant compte des sexospécificités ainsi qu'au moyen de recommandations en matière de programmes visant à soutenir et à étendre la portée d'innovations qui favorisent la sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle. Le projet passe en revue et tire des leçons de l'expérience des sous-projets financés par le Fonds canadien de recherche sur la sécurité alimentaire internationale (FCRSAI) dans le cadre de la phase 2, en accordant une attention particulière à la viabilité et aux perspectives d'expansion des sous-projets ainsi qu'à leur impact positif sur l'autonomisation des femmes et l'égalité des sexes. Les données sont recueillies au moyen de visites sur le terrain dans six des sous-projets financés par le FCRSAI, d'entrevues avec les chefs de sous-projets et de l'examen des documents secondaires d'autres projets du portefeuille des 18 sous-projets financés par le FCRSAI. This Volunteer Cooperation Pro...gram allows for the sending of 60 volunteer advisors, mainly dentists, optometrists and homeopaths mission. The program aims to 1) strengthen the individual capacities of local partners; 2) improve the practices of health and education professionals; and 3) improve the day-to-day practices of managers and staff of partner organizations.These health professionals will aim to help alleviate, on a volunteer basis, some of the most urgent health deficiencies among the poor, starting with children and school-aged children and their mothers, in regions lacking access to care. This will significantly increase the learning capacity, job performance and income of beneficiaries. In addition, the Canadian volunteers contribute to community management of certain health problems by promoting the establishment of fruitful and lasting collaboration between organizations from within the community and the services provided by public health institutions. The program also supports a public engagement program to form a body of Canadian citizens who are more educated, informed and engaged./ Ce programme de coopération volontaire permet d'envoyer 60 conseillers volontaires, principalement des dentistes, optométristes ou homéopathes, en mission. Le programme vise à 1) renforcer les capacités individuelles des partenaires, 2) améliorer les pratiques des professionnels de la santé et de l'éducation, 3) améliorer les pratiques fonctionnelles des gestionnaires et du personnel des organisations partenaires.Ces professionnels de la santé remédieront à titre volontaire à certaines des déficiences en santé les plus urgentes chez les plus pauvres, à commencer par les enfants et jeunes d'âge scolaire et leurs mères, et ce dans des régions dépourvues de soins. This project aims to strengthe...n income generation and promote maternal and child health, nutrition, hygiene, access to services, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in 14 municipalities in Chuquisaca, Bolivia. The project beneficiaries are primarily rural and indigenous women and men and municipal governments. Project activities include: (1) support for increasing family enterprise profitability; (2) adopting good health practices related to maternal and child health and SRHR; and (3) strengthening municipal governance in health and local economic development through improved management, coordination and leadership. Empowering rural and indigenous women in economic enterprise management is an important objective of the project./Ce projet vise à renforcer la création de revenus, ainsi qu'à promouvoir la santé maternelle et infantile, la nutrition, l'hygiène, l'accès aux services et la santé et les droits sexuels et reproductifs (SDSR) dans 14 municipalités de Chuquisaca, en Bolivie. Les bénéficiaires du projet sont principalement des femmes et des hommes issus de communautés autochtones et de communautés rurales, ainsi que les administrations municipales. Les activités du projet comprennent : 1) le soutien visant à accroître la rentabilité des entreprises familiales; 2) l'adoption de pratiques d'hygiène exemplaires liées à la santé maternelle et infantile et à la SDSR; 3) le renforcement de la gouvernance municipale en matière de santé et de développement économique local en améliorant la gestion, la coordination et le leadership. Le renforcement du pouvoir des femmes et des hommes issus de communautés autochtones et de communautés rurales en matière de gestion économique des entreprises constitue l'un des objectifs importants du projet.

The project aims to improve fo...od security, income and health in sub-Saharan Africa by helping farmers and SMEs to take advantage of the regional commercial opportunities of the bean crop. The initiative will address the root challenges farmers and SMEs face in accessing markets in targeted bean corridors, such as a lack of skills, finance, information, insurance, infrastructure and organizational capacity by 1) Facilitating linkages and partnerships among value chain stakeholders through bean innovation platforms and enhancing business skills and collective marketing; 2) Facilitating access to market services (information, finance, training, infrastructure, seeds, fertilizer) and advocating support from key actors (NGOs, governments, etc.) for programs benefitting farmers and SMEs in the bean industry; and 3) Supporting bean producers to meet production volumes and quality standards./ Le projet vise à améliorer la sécurité alimentaire, le revenu et la santé en Afrique subsaharienne en aidant les agriculteurs et les PME à profiter des débouchés commerciaux régionaux de la récolte des fèves. L'initiative permettra de s'attaquer aux défis que les agriculteurs et les PME à avoir accès aux marchés ciblés de corridors Bean, comme un manque de compétences, des finances, de l'information, de l'assurance, de l'infrastructure et de la capacité organisationnelle

This project is part of DFATD'...s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), which is within the Career Focus stream of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES). The IYIP is designed to offer young Canadian post-secondary graduates the opportunity to gain professional experience through international development work.The Centre de solidarité internationale du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean is sending 30 young Canadians in three countries (Equator, Senegal and Burkina Faso) for six months. Fields of intervention are: urban agriculture; sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry; solidarity marketing; community health; school dropout prevention; HIV/AIDS prevention; family planning and reproductive health; rural development; non-timber forest product transformation; nutrition; climate change adaptation; and, sustainable management of natural resources./ Ce projet fait partie du Programme de stages pour les jeunes (PSIJ) du Ministère des Affaires étrangères, Commerce et Développement (MAECD), qui est lié au programme de Stratégie emploi jeunesse (SEJ) du gouvernement du Canada. Le PSIJ vise à offrir aux jeunes Canadiens, titulaires d'un diplôme postsecondaire, la possibilité d'acquérir une expérience professionnelle en participant au développement international.Le Centre de solidarité internationale du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean permet l'envoi de 30 jeunes canadiens dans trois pays (Équateur, Sénégal et Burkina Faso) pour une durée de six mois. The program aims to improve food security and sustainable economic growth by focusing on: (1) training of beneficiaries in agriculture; (2) agricultural and livestock production; (3) marketing and entrepreneurship for market development; (4) job creation and income generation; (5) nutrition, sanitation and protection of natural resources; and (6) organizational development for participation and mobilization of development actors. The program also supports a public engagement program to form a body of Canadian citizens who are educated, informed and engaged./ Ce programme de coopération volontaire permet d'envoyer 190 conseillers volontaires en mission. Le programme vise à améliorer la sécurité alimentaire et la croissance économique durable en mettant l'accent sur : 1) la formation des bénéficiaires dans le domaine agricole, 2) la production agricole et l'élevage, 3) la commercialisation et l'entrepreneuriat pour le développement des marchés, 4) la création d'emplois et la génération de revenus, 5) la nutrition, l'assainissement et la protection de ressources naturelles, et 6) le développement organisationnel pour la participation et la mobilisation des acteurs du développement. This Volunteer Cooperation Pro...gram sends190 volunteer advisors to work with local organizations in developing countries. The purpose of this project is... to improve the health care systems for and by women and those most in need. The goal is to improve citizen engagement and to make public institutions more responsive to people's needs and rights through a technological platform. The initiative favours targeted zones (urban and rural): (1) citizen and health officers freely expressing their opinions about their health system using new technologies, including mobile applications, text message platforms, blogs and wikis; (2) use of helpful and useable data by local institutions and by national decision makers to improve health systems and make them more democratic; (3) improved advocacy to make the health systems in the three countries better adapted to the needs of women and those most in need.The project's activities include the following: (1) conducting social integration activities and awareness campaigns to empower the people, notably women and those most in need, in terms of using technology; (2) training local institutions so they can collect, analyze and transmit information regarding health services to the people; (3) developing technologies (mobile application for smartphones and tablets, automated information-sharing module) to allow users to express their opinions about the health system, to allow staff to register complaints and to allow decision makers to better understand the people's needs and grievances; (4) developing a text message platform that allows people to access information on the health system's services and access, including rights to health; (5) training and coaching non-governmental organizations and public institutions to facilitate policy dialogue in order to provide better access to health services that meet people's needs./Ce projet a pour but d'améliorer les systèmes de santé pour et par les femmes et les plus démunis. The project aims to support th...e World Food Programme (WFP) in the fight against hunger. WFP is partnering with the private sector, agriculture producers, African governments and other stakeholders to support the establishment of commercially sustainable factories in Ethiopia and Rwanda to produce Supercereal Plus, a fortified cereal that responds specifically to the nutritional needs of children aged 6-24 months.Project activities include: (1) purchasing Supercereal Plus from the three factories for five years to be used for WFP operations; and (2) using Supercereal Plus a locally-produced product in its nutrition programmes in 11 African countries./Le projet vise à soutenir le Programme alimentaire mondial (PAM) dans la lutte contre la faim. Le PAM travaille en partenariat avec le secteur privé, les producteurs agricoles, les gouvernements africains et d'autres intervenants pour faciliter l'établissement, en Éthiopie et au Rwanda, d'usines viables sur le plan commercial qui produiront la Supercéréale Plus, céréale enrichie qui répond aux besoins nutritionnels des enfants âgés de 6 à 24 mois.Les activités du projet comprennent : (1) l'achat de Supercéréale Plus aux trois usines pendant cinq ans, en vue de son utilisation dans le cadre des activités du PAM; et (2) l'utilisation de Supercéréale Plus, produite localement, dans 11 pays africains dans le cadre des programmes de nutrition du PAM.

The project aims to improve th...e well-being of women and girls through evidence-based gender-sensitive policy and programming recommendations on sustaining and scaling up innovations for food and nutrition security. It reviews and learns from the experience of the sub-projects funded under the Canadian International Food Security Research Fund (CIFSRF) Phase 2 project, with special attention to their sustainability and prospects for scaling up, as well as their positive impact on women's empowerment and gender equality. Findings are disseminated to stakeholders of the six sub-projects , as well as to policy-makers in Canada, development partners, and governments of low- and middle-income countries. Data is collected through field visits to six of the CIFSRF sub-projects, interviews with sub-project leaders, and review of secondary material for other projects in the portfolio of the 18 sub-projects funded by CIFSRF. / Le projet vise à améliorer le bien-être des femmes et des filles au moyen de politiques fondées sur des données probantes et tenant compte des sexospécificités ainsi qu'au moyen de recommandations en matière de programmes visant à soutenir et à étendre la portée d'innovations qui favorisent la sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle. Le projet passe en revue et tire des leçons de l'expérience des sous-projets financés par le Fonds canadien de recherche sur la sécurité alimentaire internationale (FCRSAI) dans le cadre de la phase 2, en accordant une attention particulière à la viabilité et aux perspectives d'expansion des sous-projets ainsi qu'à leur impact positif sur l'autonomisation des femmes et l'égalité des sexes. The IYIP contributes to the YES by providing a large spectrum of Canadian graduates with valuable international development work experience abroad, needed to launch successful careers.Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland provides 40 Canadians interns with internships in five countries: Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, South Africa and Malawi. The overall focus of the internships is on sustainable environment stewardship. Internships have specific focus on increasing food security, stimulating sustainable economic growth and securing the future of children and youth. Project activities include:(1) provide equipment and training to improve schools and teaching; (2) increase access to quality healthcare and services, and develop local businesses and community networks; (3) provide better instructions and learning material for teachers, trainers, schools and students, especially women and girls; (4) provide local health providers and community members with improved equipment and health service delivery; and (5) provide training to local businesses including women entrepreneurs and farmers with improved business skills and micro-finance./ Ce projet vise à renforcer les collectivités de régions mal desservies en améliorant l'éducation, la formation professionnelle et les soins de santé, et en contribuant à la création d'entreprises locales. The project aims to improve fo...od security, income and health in sub-Saharan Africa by helping farmers and SMEs to take advantage of the regional commercial opportunities of the bean crop. The initiative will address the root challenges farmers and SMEs face in accessing markets in targeted bean corridors, such as a lack of skills, finance, information, insurance, infrastructure and organizational capacity by 1) Facilitating linkages and partnerships among value chain stakeholders through bean innovation platforms and enhancing business skills and collective marketing; 2) Facilitating access to market services (information, finance, training, infrastructure, seeds, fertilizer) and advocating support from key actors (NGOs, governments, etc.) for programs benefitting farmers and SMEs in the bean industry; and 3) Supporting bean producers to meet production volumes and quality standards./ Le projet vise à améliorer la sécurité alimentaire, le revenu et la santé en Afrique subsaharienne en aidant les agriculteurs et les PME à profiter des débouchés commerciaux régionaux de la récolte des fèves. The World Food Programme (WFP)... is the United Nations' frontline agency in the fight against hunger. It responds to emergencies, saves lives by getting food to the hungry quickly, and works to help prevent hunger in the future. As the global cluster lead agency for logistics and emergency telecommunications, WFP also plays a major role in providing common services for the humanitarian community.With the support of GAC and other donors, the World Food Programme's Humanitarian Air Service (WFP-UNHAS) is providing safe, reliable, responsive and efficient air service for humanitarian agencies in numerous countries. It transports passengers undertaking humanitarian work, carries light cargo for humanitarian agencies, and carries out emergency medical and security evacuations./ Le Programme alimentaire mondial (PAM) est l'organisme de première ligne des Nations Unies dans la lutte contre la faim. Il répond aux urgences, sauve des vies grâce à l'acheminement rapide de vivres aux personnes affamées et contribue à prévenir la faim. En tant que responsable sectoriel mondial en matière de logistique et de télécommunications d'urgence, le PAM joue également un rôle de premier plan dans la prestation de services communs à la communauté humanitaire.Avec le soutien d'AMC et d'autres donateurs, le Service aérien d'aide humanitaire du Programme alimentaire mondial assure le transport aérien sécuritaire, fiable, souple et efficient du personnel humanitaire dans de nombreux pays. The project aims to improve fo...od security, income and health in sub-Saharan Africa by helping farmers and SMEs to take advantage of the regional commercial opportunities of the bean crop. The initiative will address the root challenges farmers and SMEs face in accessing markets in targeted bean corridors, such as a lack of skills, finance, information, insurance, infrastructure and organizational capacity by 1) Facilitating linkages and partnerships among value chain stakeholders through bean innovation platforms and enhancing business skills and collective marketing; 2) Facilitating access to market services (information, finance, training, infrastructure, seeds, fertilizer) and advocating support from key actors (NGOs, governments, etc.) for programs benefitting farmers and SMEs in the bean industry; and 3) Supporting bean producers to meet production volumes and quality standards./ Le projet vise à améliorer la sécurité alimentaire, le revenu et la santé en Afrique subsaharienne en aidant les agriculteurs et les PME à profiter des débouchés commerciaux régionaux de la récolte des fèves. L'initiative permettra de s'attaquer aux défis que les agriculteurs et les PME à avoir accès aux marchés ciblés de corridors Bean, comme un manque de compétences, des finances, de l'information, de l'assurance, de l'infrastructure et de la capacité organisationnelle

This project aims to reduce po...verty by training up to 200 male and female indigenous youth, aged between 15 and 44, living in the poorest communities of Chiloé, Chile. It helps these youth become more employable and self-sufficient by establishing a rural training centre—the Wekimum Rural Training Centre—where they can access training programs based on their needs. Skills learned by trainees are intended to help them establish healthy, sustainable, and dignified livelihoods; contribute productively to local governance and community development; and re-establish their confidence and pride in indigenous identity and traditional knowledge. Youth acquire skills in how to make a living in rural areas, resource management, business development, and general life skills. Through the Wekimum Rural Training Centre, the project proposes to leave a legacy of effective training infrastructure, high quality curricula, and programming developed from the fusion of Chilote and Canadian knowledge. As well, more than 200 families stand to benefit from seed and livestock banks./ Ce projet vise à réduire la pauvreté en formant quelques 200 jeunes Autochtones, hommes et femmes, de 15 à 44 ans qui vivent dans les collectivités les plus pauvres de Chiloé, au Chili. Ce projet aide ces jeunes à accroître leur employabilité et leur autonomie grâce à l'établissement d'un centre rural de formation – le Centre rural de formation de Wekimun – où ils ont accès à des programmes de formation axés sur leurs besoins. Les compétences ainsi développées visent à aider ces jeunes à adopter des moyens de subsistance sains, durables et dignes, et à contribuer de façon productive à la gouvernance locale et au développement communautaire. Ainsi, ils reprennent confiance en eux et à retrouvent leur fierté à l'égard de leur identité autochtone et de leurs connaissances traditionnelles.
