Governments have dedicated a pivotal role to the private sector in the implementation and financing of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. This has pushed a turn towards the private sector, the promotion of multi-stakeholder partnerships between public and private actors. However, far too often there is a... considerable gap between the social and environmental commitments companies make publicly in political fora like the UN and the actual effects of their production patterns and investment strategies on people and the environment. A new working paper, published by Brot für die Welt, Global Policy Forum and MISEREOR provides an overview of the ways and means by which the UN involves business actors in the debates around the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. It describes new initiatives and alliances of business actors around SDG implementation at the international level, and their main messages and policy proposals. With a few selected examples it contrasts the sustainability rhetoric of corporations with their business reality. And finally, the working paper draws conclusions and formulates recommendations for policymakers on how to increase the benefits of UN-business interactions in implementing the 2030 Agenda - and how to reduce associated risks and negative side effects.

A new report by the world’s largest humanitarian network warns that the number of people needing humanitarian assistance every year as a result of climate-related disasters could double by 2050. It estimates that the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance as a result of storms, droug...hts and floods could climb beyond 200 million annually – compared to an estimated 108 million today.
It further suggests that this rising human toll would come with a huge financial price tag, with climate-related humanitarian costs ballooning

It explores the essential aspects of climate change, including its injustices to vulnerable communities, especially women and girls and least developed countries, and provides examples of best practices and stories of hope unique to the region. It can be used as a resource for journalists to understand the science of climate change, as well as helping journalists to improve their reporting of the environmental, social, economic, political, technological and other angles of the story.

Außerdem soll das Ranking der Politik einen Überblick in der Global Health Forschungslandschaft Deutschlands bieten. Es soll den Status Quo mit Positivbeispielen und gravierenden Defiziten darstellen und helfen noch ausschöpfbare Handlungsspielräume zu erkennen und zu nutzen.

Das Statistische Bundesamt ist verantwortlich für die Koordinierung und Veröffentlichung deutscher Daten ...für die SDG-Indikatoren und für die statistische Berichterstattung über die Fortschritte Deutschlands auf diesem Gebiet. Diese Internetseite ermöglicht es den zuständigen internationalen Organisationen (Custodian Agencies) für einzelne SDG-Indikatoren die Daten direkt herunterzuladen und für die globale Berichterstattung zu nutzen. Zudem bietet sie der interessierten Öffentlichkeit stets aktualisierte Informationen über den Stand von Deutschlands SDG-Indikatoren und detaillierte Angaben zu deren Berechnungsmethodik.
