En una estancia llevada a cabo... en 2013, se realizó un estudio sobre el estado nutricional de esta población. Los contactos que allí se hicieron, así como las necesidades detectadas, han servido para dar continuidad a través de este proyecto, que se basa en Capacitación material y técnica del staff docente de las Facultades de Enfermería y de los profesionales del Centro de Salud de Pueblo Libre en relación al diagnóstico y clasificación de pacientes hipertensos y/o diabéticos para identificar de esta comunidad, mientras que todos los participantes asumen la importancia de controlar sus cifras de tensión arterial (TA) y glucemias, sepan cómo hacerlo y encuentren el soporte necesario al trabajar en equipo, como paso previo a implementar un Programa de Atención Integral para cada una de estas enfermedades. El trabajo será llevado a cabo por José Manuel Alcaide Leyva como parte de su TFM.

El presente proyecto, con dura...ción de 12 meses, pretende cubrir el abastecimiento de medicamentos y tratamiento médico para 2.000 personas que residen en zonas rurales de las gobernaciones de Ramallah, Nablus y Hebron, en donde el Sistema Público de Salud palestino no ofrece coberturas suficientes. Las personas beneficiarias serán fundamentalmente niños/as, mujeres y personas ancianas con enfermedades crónicas (hipertensión, anemia, diabetes y reumatismo) que de no recibir tratamiento continuo corren un alto riesgo incluso de muerte. En un contexto en el que la ocupación militar israelí niega la libre circulación a la población palestina ocupada, y en donde las carencias del Servicio sanitario palestino son cada vez mayores, el presente proyecto se antoja imprescindible para poder iniciar y/o continuar con los tratamientos médicos básicos para las personas con este tipo de enfermedades. El trabajo de compra y distribución de los medicamentos se llevará a cabo mediante la ONG palestina Health Work Comittees, experta desde hace más de 20 años en abastecer y suministrar tratamientos en áreas rurales mediante sus clínicas móviles.

Prevención y control de enfermedades no transmisibles (ENT) en comunidades mayas de Huehuetenango, Guatemala. :: El proyecto busca la difusión de conocimientos entre la población acerca del aumento de enfermedades no transmisibles (ENT) y su relación con factores de riesgo: dietas inadecuadas, tabaco, alcoholismo, sedentarismo y obesidad. Se organizará un programa para la prevención, detección y tratamiento de estas enfermedades, centrado en la transmisión del virus de papiloma humano (VPH) y el cáncer cervicouterino, la diabetes, hipertensión y EPOC. Se dotará con medicamentos y equipo a los servicios de salud locales (clínicas comunitarias y botiquines), y al personal de salud local (personal voluntario o profesional encargado de la atención a pacientes en clínicas y botiquines). Se dará formación adecuada a este personal y se lanzarán campañas educativas y radiales para la promoción de una dieta saludable, actividad física, lactancia materna y contra el tabaquismo, alcoholismo, obesidad y prevención del VPH.

Título completo del proyecto:... Disminuida la mortalidad/morbilidad ocasionada por las enfermedades crónicas entre la población saharaui refugiada en los Campamentos de Tindouf. Edición 2018. :: En el año 2015 Médicos del Mundo y el Ministerio de Salud Saharaui pusieron en marcha el Programa de Enfermedades Crónicas-PNEC para atender la Diabetes Mellitus y la Hipertensión Arterial, patologías con alta morbimortalidad entre la población entre la población refugiada. Este proyecto pretende aumentar la calidad, cobertura y accesibilidad del PNEC mejorando la asistencia. Para ello, se realizará formaciones y acompañamiento en la consulta al personal sanitario local, se dará asistencia especializada con las comisiones, se dotará de medicamentos, equipos y fungibles, se realizarán campañas de sensibilización basadas en los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de la población en relación que tiene la población sobre las enfermedades crónicas y se reforzarán los mecanismos de gestión del PNEC. Todo ello desde un enfoque de atención primaria de salud con y salud comunitaria que promueva un cambio en los hábitos de vida.

Els beneficiaris seran 120 persones que han perdut la visió a causa de les cataractes que viuen a la zona d'Hombori. S'espera poder-les intervenir i fer les revisions pertinents fins a la curació total. Es tracta de persones que viuen en una de les zones mes pobres de Malion no hi ha especialistes per poder operar. S'espera que la recuperació de la visió puguin ser persones autònomes ja que actualment són totalment depenents de les seves famílies. Per a fer possible aquest objectiu s'ha equipat un caminó amb l'instrumental i el material necessari per poder fer les intervencions quirúrgiques.

En los países en vías de des...arrollo el porcentaje de población que es consciente y controla su hipertensión arterial es mínimo. Es necesario primero hacer la detección y después la prescripción y el seguimiento. Para hacer un screening efectivo en zonas rurales extensas y sin conexión a redes digitales se necesita una tecnología inteligente y autónoma, basada en dispositivos móviles, capaz de ser usada por personas sin demasiados conocimientos médicos. La metodología se basa en usar las estructuras sociales locales, y una tecnología lo mas automatizada y autónoma posible, pero que al mismo tiempo pueda obtener prescripciones de personal médico especializado si es necesario. El proyecto desarrollará estos aspectos basándose en dispositivos móviles de bajo costo y sistemas de medida de variables fisiológicas con conexión inalámbrica.

Título completo del proyecto:... PREVENCION Y CONTROL DE LA EPIDEMIS DE DIEBETES-HIPERTENSIÓN EN ALDEAS INDÍGENAS MAYAS DISTALES Y EXCLUÍDAS DE HUEHUETENANGO. GUATEMALA :: El proyecto persigue detectar y reducir la morbilidad del binomio diabetes mellitus-hipertensión arterias sistémica (en lo sucesivo DM-HTA) en aldeas que, por su extrema lejanía y aislamiento, carecen de información básica del problema que planteamos y carecen así mismo del servicio de salud básico que ayuda a prevenirlas. Para ello, el proyecto pretende colaborar a establecer un programa de prevención, detección y control de DM-HTA, difundiéndose entre la población beneficiaria la importancia de las mismas, su efecto en la salud y en su economía. Igualmente se formará a los agentes de salud en el control, tratamiento y derivación de DM-HTA.

Edición 2018 :: En el año 2015 Médicos del Mundo y el Ministerio de Salud Saharaui pusieron en marcha el Programa de Enfermedades Crónicas-PNEC para atender la Diabetes Mellitus y la Hipertensión Arterial, patologías con alta morbilidad/mortalidad entre la población refugiada. Este proyecto pretende aumentar la calidad, cobertura y accesibilidad del PNEC mejorando la asistencia. Para ello, se realizarán formaciones y acompañamiento en la consulta al personal sanitario local, se dará asistencia especializada con las comisiones, se dotará de medicamentos, equipos y fungibles, se realizarán campañas de sensibilización basadas en los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de la población sobre las enfermedades crónicas y se reforzarán los mecanismos de gestión del PNEC. Todo ello desde un enfoque de atención primaria de salud y salud comunitaria que promueva un cambio en los hábitos de vida.

En Ecuador la diabetes es la s...egunda causa de muerte, solo después de las enfermedades isquémicasdel corazón y es la primera de las enfermedades crónicas no trasmisibles. Esta propuesta busca desarrollar en las provincias de Cotopaxi, Tungurahua, Chimborazo y Pastaza, la formación de profesionales de los mandos intermedios y de facultativos que están en el primer nivel de atención en las poblaciones indígenas. Adicionalmente, incluir la preparación de materiales didácticos en el idioma nativo para esta comunidad, con el objetivo de implementar y llevar a la práctica un enfoque metodológico estandarizado de mejoramiento continuo de la calidad que permita a funcionarios de niveles desconcentrados zonales y distritales, así como a profesionales asistenciales de los establecimientos de salud, conducir la implementación de ciclos rápidos de mejoramiento continuo de la calidad aplicado a los procesos de atención a la diabetes en población indígena.

La presente intervención pret...ende, mediante la investigación, la adaptación de protocolos de intervención sobre Enfermedades Crónicas No Transmisibles (ECNT) a la actual situación de pandemia global provocada por la COVID19 y la formación de personal sanitario, contribuir a mejorar la atención en salud a las personas con enfermedades ECNT. Además, se pretende ayudar a reducir su impacto comunitario mediante la sensibilización de la población y la mayor eficacia de los protocolos de que dispondrán los centros de salud de la contraparte. La Universidad de Jaén, mediante los profesionales docentes y sanitarios del que formarán parte el equipo de trabajo, ayudarán a transferir el conocimiento para implementar ventajas de protocolos utilizados en el sistema de salud en España, creando un espacio de generación de conocimientos sobre ECNT de uso público. Stroke is a growing societal c...hallenge and is the third leading cause of global disease-burden estimated using disability-adjusted life years (World Health Organisation) Rehabilitation after stroke is an area of mutual interest for health care in Uganda and Sweden. Within the healthcare sector there is a growing emphasis on Information Communication Technology (ICT) services to provide clients with easier access to information, self-evaluation, and self-management. ICT-supported programs among patients? home environment are also recommended when there are long distances to the health care specialists. This research project will enhance our understanding of how modern technology, i.e. mobile phones, can be integrated and used in a rehabilitation program aiming to provide better accessibility and affordability in order to facilitate functioning in activities of daily living (ADL) and social participation after stroke. This project will be conducted in Uganda and is built on an ongoing Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) evaluating a client-centered ADL-intervention for persons with stroke and their families in Sweden. The Medical Research Council guidelines for complex interventions will be used to identify the evidence base, to develop and modelling an intervention and evaluate the new model in a feasibility study conducted in African contexts by using a RCT design.

A crucial aspect for reliable ...automated analysis of cell samples for cancer detection is accurate and robust quantification of very subtle changes in the nuclear chromatin distribution through image analysis. This requires high resolution, perfect focus for each cell nucleus and robustness against staining variations. This is very hard and expensive to achieve with conventional optics.Recently (2013) a new way of creating images in a light microscope was invented, Fourier ptychographic microscopy, FPM. This technique holds promise to address all three of the crucial problems in chromatin distribution quantification. However, the technique needs improvements in terms of computational efficiency and it needs to be adapted and optimized for the needs of cancer detection. We plan to do that within this project.We have since 2008 had a collaboration between India and Uppsala University on developing a new cost effective system for cervical cancer screening. The FPM technique holds promise for increasing the performance of the developed system. We also propose to use the same technique for addressing two other common and increasing cancers: oral cancer and thyroid cancer. The Indian project partners have a strong background in cancer research, the Swedish team combines long-standing expertise in the field of digital cytometry with expertise in robust and precise image analysis.

The intervention concerns core... support to NCD Alliance (NCDA) for operations covering the period August 2020 – July 2023. The amount for the contribution is 15,000,000 SEK.NCD Alliance (NCDA) is a unique global civil society network that unites international, regional and national civil society organisations, alliances and networks dedicated to improving non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention and control worldwide. Through its member alliances, it has developed a network of over 2,000 civil society organisations in 170 countries working towards the NCD agenda. NCDA is considered a global thought leader, and a civil society voice, on NCD policy and practice. It works to elevate the NCDs onto the global health and development agenda and also to bridge the gap and translate global commitments to the ground at the national level. It does this through its own organisation as well as its members by leading and coordinating advocacy towards political processes at all levels and promoting accountability and knowledge exchange. It also leads a variety of initiatives and in-depth programmes to develop civil society capacity in low- and middle income countries (LMICs) to deliver progress on NCD prevention and control at the international, regional and national levels. NCDA is seated in Geneva, Switzerland. It consists of 108 member alliances, networks and organisations representing a wide range of diseases, risk factors and thematic priorities across the NCD spectrum (including mental illness and air pollution). NCDA has four founding members, each representing one of the main four types of NCDs. The founding members are: The International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the World Heart Federation (WHF) and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). NCDA has requested organisational support from Sida to operationalise its strategy over the next three years. NCDA will utilize Sida support to expand its advocacy and prevention work, expand its capacity development programmes and strengthen its organisational development and effectiveness. NCDA has submitted its Strategic Plan (SP), Budget and Results Framework for 2016 – 2020. NCDA is currently developing its new strategic plan for 2021- 2028 and have conveyed that it does not expect significant strategic changes.

In Moldova, a quarter of the p...opulation dies of a Non-Communicable Disease (NCD), such as cardio-vascular disease, before reaching the age of 70. The quality of life of people affected by NCDs is very low, as the health system lacks the capacities to tackle NCDs effectively. The project strengthens primary healthcare service providers' capacities to better organize care together with social services. Better health will be promoted through engaging communities and local authorities in common actions for NCD prevention and promotion of healthy behaviors.

In Moldova, the cervical cance...r incidence and mortality of women continues to be high due to very high proportion of late stage diagnoses. An integrated approach to cervical cancer prevention and control combining vaccination and regular cervical screening has the potential to reduce cervical cancer deaths by at least 80%. The project aims at reducing incidence and mortality due to cervical cancer through better access to and use of cost-effective and quality services within organized cervical cancer prevention program.
