Measure Evaluation IV
The Monitoring and Evaluation ...to Assess and Use Results (MEASURE) Evaluation Phase IV Project builds on the decades-long commitment by the Bureau for Global Health to support health sector monitoring and evaluation and country health information system strengthening. The project is designed, in part, to further efforts of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to end preventable child and maternal deaths (EPCMD) by assisting partner governments and institutions to generate and make use of high-quality health systems data that can be used to guide decision-making on effective interventions. The strategic objective of the MEASURE Evaluation Phase IV Project is to enable countries to strengthen national, community, and facility-based systems to generate high quality health information that is used to inform decisions on policies, programs, and resource allocations at all levels of the health system.

The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Sc...hool of Public Health's Center for Communication Programs (CCP) was awarded a five-year grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)'s mission in Mali to conduct social and behavior change communication and social marketing (SBCC/SM) activities in that country. Grant activity will strengthen Malians' ability to lead healthy, productive lives by promoting malaria prevention and treatment, good nutrition and hygiene practices as well as reproductive health behaviors like family planning. Pairing social and behavior change communication with social marketing, the initiative will inspire households to acquire healthy behaviors and give them access to life-saving health products.

Global Health Supply Chain - P...rocurement and Supply Management (GSHC-PSM) IDIQ - Malaria Task Order

Building on decades of USAID's... work procuring health commodities and strengthening supply chains, the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management project is working to transform global and national supply chains for health commodities. The project integrates two former USAID programs into one efficient supply chain that serves many of the world's most vulnerable and difficult-to-reach communities. The project is designed to meet today's critical global health challenges - eliminating HIV and AIDS, providing universal malaria coverage, and helping women meet their family planning and reproductive health needs. By bringing together advanced technical solutions, a team of highly qualified experts, and proven commercial processes and principles, USAID Global Health Supply Chain works to reduce costs and increase efficiencies in global and national supply chains. In addition to optimizing supply chains, the project is strengthening national supply chain systems and fostering collaboration among supply chain stakeholders worldwide.

Mobile Solutions Technical Ass...istance and Research (mSTAR) project
more
The FHI 360 Mobile Solutions T...echnical Assistance and Research (mSTAR) project is a broad, flexible and responsive technical assistance and research program that is fostering the rapid adoption and scale-up of digital finance, digital inclusion and mobile data in developing countries. Ultimately, mSTAR seeks to increase access to and use of mobile and digital technologies by low-income individuals, civil society, local government institutions and private-sector stakeholders.
more
Digital finance. mSTAR support...s regulations and policies that will enable the safe but robust growth of digital financial systems and build critical market infrastructures.
Digital inclusion. mSTAR supports the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) goal of building partnerships to create enabling policies and regulations, develop new business models and provide relevant local content that makes mobile technology accessible to underserved populations.
Mobile data collection for learning and decision making. mSTAR facilitates the use of mobile data tools that empower decision makers to adapt their programs as necessary. Mobile tools can eliminate errors in collecting and transcribing paper forms and perform power analyses and visualization. Programs can see results in real time.
mSTAR will support USAID in identifying ways to fund innovative mobile data projects designed for scale, to change policy and contract language to incorporate mobile data solutions into programs, and to promote learning through mobile data among USAID staff and implementers.
The mSTAR project has been active primarily in Bangladesh, India, Liberia and Mozambique, and with the USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA). The project has supported trainings in El Salvador, Ghana and Zambia. Other activities have been in East Africa, Mali and Myanmar (Burma).

MATERNAL AND CHILD SURVIVAL PR...OGRAM (MCSP - FORMERLY RMNCH)

Maternal and Child Survival Pr...ogram (MCSP - formerly RMNCH)
more
The United States Agency for I...nternational Development's (USAID) Bureau for Global Health's flagship Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) focuses on 25 high-priority countries with the ultimate goal of preventing child and maternal deaths. The Program is introducing and supporting high-impact, sustainable reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) interventions in partnership with ministries of health and other partners. MCSP places a greater emphasis on key cross-cutting issues such as innovation, e/mHealth, equity, quality, gender, public-private partnerships and involvement of civil society, community approaches, health systems strengthening, and behavior change interventions. While maintaining a focus on technical, high-impact interventions; the Program works toward sustainable scale-up to include the health systems that deliver these interventions. In addition to contributing to high-level technical and policy dialogue at the global level, the Program provides tailored technical assistance to help countries meet specific priorities and contextual needs of local RMNCH programs.

VECTORWORKS
VectorWorks
VectorWorks is a five-year (20...14-19) global project to increase access to and use of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) and other proven vector control interventions for malaria prevention. The project is funded by the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) under a USAID cooperative agreement. It envisions a world where every family has the ability to protect itself from malaria through vector control technologies that are easy to use, easy to access and easy to afford. VectorWorks has a comprehensive and dynamic approach to empower governments, civil society and the private sector to create sustainable systems to improve access to and appropriate use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets (ITNs) and other vector control technologies. VectorWorks will innovatively expand on the strong and successful work of the NetWorks project to support and strengthen distribution networks, create demand for and promote consistent use of ITNs, and strategically apply and use research findings. These are the necessary next steps down the path to elimination of malaria.

Global Health Supply Chain - P...rocurement and Supply Management (GSHC-PSM) IDIQ - Malaria Task Order
more
Building on decades of USAID's... work procuring health commodities and strengthening supply chains, the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management project is working to transform global and national supply chains for health commodities. In addition to optimizing supply chains, the project is strengthening national supply chain systems and fostering collaboration among supply chain stakeholders worldwide.

more
Communication for Improved Hea...lth Outcomes Activity (CIHO) will complement the existing efforts by the Government of the Republic of Mozambique (GRM) and development partners to expand access and improve the quality of health services in Sofala. Social and behavior change communications (SBCC) interventions are essential for garnering community support and for addressing human behaviors that are requisite for maximizing the health impact of these health system advances. CIHO will improve Mozambique's capacity to design, implement, and coordinate high-quality SBCC, allowing health promotion efforts to more effectively reduce morbidity and mortality caused by preventable diseases.

These include activities that reduce corruption; increase equity; improve efficiency and increase financial protection (especially for underserved populations), including in the context of financing, organization of services, facility construction/renovation, pharmaceutical management, and human capacity development and management,. Note: Operating Units should make efforts to report activities that address specific earmarks under other sub-elements, reserving the use of the health governance and finance sub-element for overarching activities that support multiple health elements.

Control and Prevention of Mala...ria (CAP-Malaria)
more
The Control and Prevention of ...Malaria (CAP-Malaria) project will advance the efforts of Cambodia's National Malaria Program to strengthen malaria prevention and control in the border areas of Cambodia where there is drug resistant malaria. The CAP-Malaria project will conduct behavior-change communication campaigns to increase awareness about malaria prevention, particularly among mobile and migrant workers. It will distribute approximately 50,000 insecticide-treated bed nets to vulnerable populations. CAP-Malaria will strengthen antenatal care practices among health workers in high prevalence areas to improve care for patients and the use of rapid diagnostic tests. The project will also track malaria-borne mosquitos and their biting behaviors and facilitate cross-border cooperation between Thai and Cambodian health authorities. This effort will reduce Cambodia's malaria burden, including malaria-related deaths, as well as move Cambodia towards the pre-elimination stage of malaria in specific areas.

MATERNAL AND CHILD SURVIVAL PR...OGRAM (MCSP - FORMERLY RMNCH)
more
Maternal and Child Survival Pr...ogram (MCSP - formerly RMNCH)
more
The United States Agency for I...nternational Development's (USAID) Bureau for Global Health's flagship Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) focuses on 25 high-priority countries with the ultimate goal of preventing child and maternal deaths.
