This document can serve as a technical and strategic guide for any partner wishing to strengthen the intersectorality of WASH-Nutrition programmes. It presents the regional WASH & Nutrition context, a brief review of the latest scientific evidence, and proposes an integrated WASH-Nutrition programming framework adapted to the regional context of West and Central Africa. Considerable effort has been made to provide rural African
populations with basic health care, but the quality of this care
remains unsatisfactory due to the absence of first-line GPs. This is
a paradoxical situation in view of the large number of physicians
trained in medical schools in French-speaking Africa and
Madagascar. of the lack of GPs working in rural areas is a real
concern, as many young doctors remain unemployed in cities.
For more than 20 years, the NGO Santé Sud has proposed a
Community General Medicine concept, which, combined with
a support system, has allowed the installation of more than
200 community GPs in Mali and Madagascar. The advantage of
this concept is that it provides family medicine and primary health
care in the same practice.

Increased sensitisation rates and more severe symptoms have been the partial outcome of: increased pollen production of wind-pollinated plants resulting in long-term increased abundance of pollen in the air we breathe; earlier shifts of airborne pollen seasons making occurrence of allergic symptoms harder to predict and deal with efficiently; increased allergenicity of pollen causing more severe health effects in allergic individuals; introduction of new, invasive allergenic plant species causing new sensitisations; environment-environment interactions, such as plants and hosted microorganisms, i.e. fungi and bacteria, which comprise a complex and dynamic system, with additive, presently unforeseeable influences on human health; environment-human interactions, as the consequence of a combination of environmental factors, like air pollution, global warming, urbanisation and microclimatic variability, which create a multi-resolution spatiotemporal system that requires new processing technologies and huge data inflow in order to be thoroughly investigated. We suggest that novel, real-time, personalised pollen information services, like mobile-app risk alerts, must be developed to provide the optimum first line of allergy management.

ntities of waste wherever possible. Ensure waste is segregated properly at the point of disposal. It is cheaper and easier to manage general waste through a municipal waste system than infectious or sharps waste which needs treatment before final disposal. Organic general wastes like food and paper can be composted rather than being wasted. Non- hazardous general waste may also be sorted for recycling.
