ach that began with the World Development Report (1993) on Investing in Health and has since been adopted by the Effective Altruism community. But just how much of health aid is cost-effective? In this paper, we examine projects in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Creditor Reporting System, the standard dataset that measures and characterizes development assistance for health, for the
years 2019 to 2021, and count the number of projects that refer to interventions from a list of highly cost-effective interventions as defined by the Disease Control Priorities Project, third edition. This exploratory quantitative analysis indicates that 61% of projects used a key word/phrase of a costeffective intervention. There were 11.9 interventions mapped per project on average. There is little evidence that donors tailor the set of interventions to country income levels by cost-effectiveness.
Policymakers may benefit from reviewing the full portfolio of interventions covered by domestic and external resources.

Élaborée par le Programme National de Lutte contre le Paludisme (PNLP), elle s’inscrit dans la vision d’un accès équitable aux messages de santé et à des services de qualité pour toute la population.
Cette stratégie met l’accent sur l’adoption de pratiques essentielles telles que l’utilisation correcte des moustiquaires imprégnées, le recours systématique au test de diagnostic rapide avant tout traitement, la prise en charge précoce des cas, en particulier chez les enfants de moins de cinq ans et les femmes enceintes, ainsi que l’adhésion complète aux traitements prescrits. Elle cible prioritairement les ménages, les femmes enceintes, les enfants, les agents de santé communautaires, les enseignants, les leaders religieux et les médias.
Pour atteindre ses objectifs, la stratégie mobilise plusieurs canaux de communication, notamment les médias de masse (radio, télévision, affichage), la communication interpersonnelle via les agents communautaires, et des campagnes de mobilisation sociale. Elle identifie également plusieurs obstacles, tels que les croyances erronées, le faible niveau d’éducation sanitaire et les disparités d’accès à l’information dans les zones rurales.
Enfin, le document propose des mécanismes de suivi et d’évaluation clairs, avec des indicateurs pour mesurer l’exposition aux messages, la compréhension, et les changements de comportement au sein des communautés. This report examines the dangers posed by current and rising rates of noncommunicable diseases and mental health conditions (NMHs) in South America, beyond their health risks, by demonstrating their considerable negative impact on economic growth. An analytical model was developed that projects the macroeconomic effects of NMHs over the period 2020–2050 in ten South American countries: Argentina, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The results showed that the macroeconomic impact of NMHs in South America indicates significant economic shortfalls resulting from NMHs. Overall, the total GDP loss due to NMHs in South America amounts to USD 7.3 trillion (2022 international USD) over the period 2020–2050

The growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) on low- and middle-income countries threatens many health systems that are already weakened. In many countries, health systems—and health workers—are not prepared to address the complex nature of NCDs. Health systems are often fragmented, and designed to respond to single episodes of care or long-term prevention and control of infectious diseases.1 Many countries also continue to face shortages and distribution challenges of trained and supported health workers. As most NCDs are multifactorial in origin and are detected later in their evolution, health systems face significant challenges to provide early detection as well as affordable, effective, and timely treatment, particularly in underserved communities.
