A guide for strengthening the basic nursing curriculum
The principles and practice of the surgical lmanagment of wounds produced by missiles or explosions

The WHO page addresses diarrhoeal diseases, one of the leading causes of death among children under five, which can be prevented through clean water, improved hygiene, and vaccinations. It emphasizes the importance of oral rehydration solutions (ORS) and zinc supplementation for treatment, as well a...s preventive measures like breastfeeding and handwashing. The WHO supports global strategies to reduce diarrhoea-related deaths through education and improved healthcare systems.
Including new recommendations for the use of ORS and zinc Supplementation for Clinic-Based Healthcare Workers.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the single most common cause of death globally. However, with falling CHD mortality rates, an increasingnumber of people live with CHD and may need support to manage their symptoms and improve prognosis. Cardiac rehabilitation is acomplex multifaceted intervention whi...ch aims to improve the health outcomes of people with CHD. Cardiac rehabilitation consists of threecore modalities: education, exercise training and psychological support. This is an update of a Cochrane systematic review previouslypublished in 2011, which aims to investigate the specific impact of the educational component of cardiac rehabilitation.

Patients with diabetes are at increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) with its manifestations of coronary artery disease (CAD), heart failure (HF), atrial fibrillation (AF), and stroke, as well as aortic and peripheral artery diseases. In addition, diabetes is a major risk factor f...or developing chronic kidney disease (CKD), which in itself is associated with developing CVD. The combination of diabetes with these cardio-renal comorbidities enhances the risk not only for cardiovascular (CV) events but also for CV and all-cause mortality. The current European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Guidelines on the management of cardiovascular disease in patients with diabetes are designed to guide prevention and management of the manifestations of CVD in patients with diabetes based on data published until end of January 2023. Over the last decade, the results of various large cardiovascular outcome trials (CVOTs) in patients with diabetes at high CV risk with novel glucose- lowering agents, such as sodium–glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (RAs), but also novel non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs), such as finerenone have substantially expanded available therapeutic op-
tions, leading to numerous evidence-based recommendations for the management of this patient population.

Did you know that public health interventions that engage community health workers (CHWs) can help people manage risk factors and prevent cardiovascular disease, as well as reduce health disparities? The Community Preventive Services Task Force (Task Force) recommends interventions that engage CHWs ...to prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD).

In the WHO South-East Asia Region, epidemiological knowledge of mental health conditions remains
a relative unknown, given the sparsity of data and information on (a) the total burden associated
with each disorder; (b) the degree of met and unmet needs for treatment and interventions; and
(c) the... patterns and costs of treatment. This is a common situation in other regions of the world,
where the global descriptive epidemiology of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study is mainly
used in association with the WHO Global Health Estimates (GHE) to quantify, at the very least, the
total burden associated with mental health conditions.

As the Americas undergo profound demographic change and there are more persons aged 65 years or older than children younger than 5 years, it is crucial to recognize that national immunization programs must be redesigned to ensure comprehensive protection for individuals across the lifespan. By adopt...ing a life course approach (LCA) to immunization, vaccination programs can be tailored to close immunity gaps at different stages of life. The life course approach foresees the establishment of multiple strategies to reduce missed opportunities for vaccination according to age group. This technical document explains the key concepts of the LCA with a focus on immunization by vaccination, as well as the underlying biological mechanisms that require the application different vaccines at different life stages according to changes to the immune system and in the epidemiological situation of a community.

This ACTIVE toolkit provides evidence-based guidance on the key approaches to promote and enable older people to be physically active, regardless of who they are, where they live, or their intrinsic capacities (for example their visual or cognitive abilities) or whether they live with chronic condit...ions (for example, diabetes, hypertension, and arthritis). It is designed to support all countries at national and subnational levels (particularly low- and middle-income countries with limited resources) to ensure that environments and settings support older people to be active, and that they provide physical activity services and programmes tailored to the needs, preferences and goals of all older people.
