Los programas de control de enfermedades diarreicas promueven el uso de la terapia de rehidratación oral como la mejor manera de reducir las muertes por diarrea entre los niños menores de 5 años. Se requiere también aplicar otras intervenciones para prevenirlas enfermedades diarreicas y ...reducirla mortalidad aún más. Se considera que las medidas para mejorar el saneamiento ambiental, y la disponibilidad de agua, la higiene o la preparación de alimentos, ayudará a prevenir la diarrea.

Tuberculosis (TB) prevention is essential for reaching the End TB targets in the South-East Asia Region (SEAR) of World Health Organization (WHO)1. The targets of 80% reduction in TB incidence rate and 90% reduction in TB mortality by 2030 (compared to 2015 levels) can be achieved only with addition...al interventions aimed at preventing TB, according to epidemiological modelling studies commissioned by the WHO South-East Asia Regional Office (WHO SEARO). Optimal implementation of TB preventive treatment (TPT) is a critical intervention to accelerate reduction in TB burden in the SEA Region, which bears nearly 43% of the global TB burden. TPT by itself has the potential to reduce the overall annual TB incidence rates by 8.3% (95% CrI 6.5–10.8) relative to 2015.

Rwanda first confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in March 2020. While Rwanda remained Ebola-free during the outbreak, it remains a priority country and continues to maintain its Ebola preparedness. Rwanda is also home to 147,000 refugees, half of whom are children, who require assistance in and outside of camps.1 In 2021, UNICEF will continue to deliver life-saving services to refugees and children and families affected by COVID-19 and its socio-economic impacts, and maintain its Ebola preparedness and contingency planning.
