RESPOND
|
RESPOND is one component of th...e U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)'s Emerging Pandemic Threats (EPT) program, and coordinates with three other projects: PREDICT, PREVENT, and IDENTIFY. RESPOND's purpose is to strengthen the human capacity of countries to identify and respond to outbreaks of newly emergent diseases in a timely and sustainable manner. RESPOND is a project that twins schools of public health and veterinary medicines in the hotspot regions with U.S. counterpart institutions to strengthen the capacities of countries to train cadres of professionals to identify and respond to outbreaks of newly emergent diseases in a timely and sustainable manner. This project develops outbreak investigation and response trainings that merge animal- and human-health approaches toward a comprehensive capacity for disease detection and control. RESPOND partners include DAI, the University of Minnesota, Tufts University, Training and Resources Group, and Ecology and Environment, Inc.

TRANSLATING RESEARCH INTO ACTI...ON (TRACTION) PROJECT

Translating Research into Acti...on (TRAction) Project
more
|
The purpose of the Translating... Research into Action (TRAction) Project is to accelerate the introduction and scale up of approaches and interventions that when implemented in programs will reduce mortality and severe morbidity in women, newborns and young children. There is a preponderance of evidence on the potential impact of specific maternal, neonatal and child health interventions yet the successful implementation and scale-up of these in countries remains a challenge. TRAction will address this knowledge gap by managing research, introduction and evaluation activities on how to effectively deliver, increase utilization, achieve coverage, and scale-up evidence based newborn, child, maternaland integrated MNCH health and nutrition tools, approaches, interventions and policies that are relevant to field programs.

The Knowledge for Health (K4He...alth) Project is the flagship health knowledge management project of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The current iteration of the Knowledge for Health (K4Health) Project is the latest in a lineage of reproductive health knowledge-sharing projects which began over 40 years ago. K4Health's focus is on social knowledge management for family planning and reproductive health. The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Center for Communication Programs (JHUCCP) manages the project in partnership with the Global Health Bureau at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). IntraHealth International joins longtime collaborators FHI 360 and Management Sciences for Health as partners with JHUCCP.

The USAID Investment Support P...rogram (ISP) serves as the keystone award for USAID's efforts to provide a full range of financial and investment services to potential investors; private sector actors; host government organizations; USAID field missions throughout the world; and USAID geographic and pillar bureaus. This activity will focus on mobilizing private sector capital towards opportunities that can generate an economic and social impact. This program is global in scope, with potential activities in any country and/or region where USAID operates. It is also open to engaging in any economic sector, in support of current and future Agency priorities. It is anticipated that at least 50% of this program's funding will be dedicated to agriculture activities in support of the Feed the Future Initiative.

Measure Evaluation IV
|
The Monitoring and Evaluation ...to Assess and Use Results (MEASURE) Evaluation Phase IV Project builds on the decades-long commitment by the Bureau for Global Health to support health sector monitoring and evaluation and country health information system strengthening. The project is designed, in part, to further efforts of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to end preventable child and maternal deaths (EPCMD) by assisting partner governments and institutions to generate and make use of high-quality health systems data that can be used to guide decision-making on effective interventions. The strategic objective of the MEASURE Evaluation Phase IV Project is to enable countries to strengthen national, community, and facility-based systems to generate high quality health information that is used to inform decisions on policies, programs, and resource allocations at all levels of the health system.

Global Health Supply Chain - P...rocurement and Supply Management (GSHC-PSM) IDIQ - Family Planning/Reproductive Health (PRH) Task Order
more
|
Building on decades of USAID's... work procuring health commodities and strengthening supply chains, the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management project is working to transform global and national supply chains for health commodities. The project integrates two former USAID programs into one efficient supply chain that serves many of the world's most vulnerable and difficult-to-reach communities. The project is designed to meet today's critical global health challenges - eliminating HIV and AIDS, providing universal malaria coverage, and helping women meet their family planning and reproductive health needs. By bringing together advanced technical solutions, a team of highly qualified experts, and proven commercial processes and principles, USAID Global Health Supply Chain works to reduce costs and increase efficiencies in global and national supply chains. In addition to optimizing supply chains, the project is strengthening national supply chain systems and fostering collaboration among supply chain stakeholders worldwide.

INTRO AND SCALE UP PLANNING
|
Intro and Scale Up Planning
|
Human-centered design (HCD) pl...aces the target population and other important stakeholders at the center of the design and implementation process. HCD was developed in the private sector to integrate business and technology around human needs. There are two ways to leverage HCD in global health development work: designing for user needs (target the right user group for an offering or intervention, drive the adoption and scale-up of new health behaviors, and rapidly conceptualize, prototype, and test new interventions and ensure they are viable for the provider) and improving collaboration across diverse stakeholders (establish and communicate a shared mission and vision across stakeholders, create and promote methods within teams for increased collaboration, and improve data usage to support shared decision-making). Examples of this work include: driving demand for the use of chlorhexidine, and increasing the uptake of the dapivarine ring.

more
|
The digital health initiative ...(Digital Square)
more
|
Digital Square works to create... a future where governments and decision-makers can access the information they need to ensure better health outcomes for all. The activity aims to perpetuate the pilot programs by aligning donors and the digital community around shared goals, supporting technical capacity in-country, coordinating and aligning investments around government priorities to achieve lasting impact, and promoting the reuse and adaptation of existing open-source digital health solutions. In Bangladesh, the activity will use FY17 funds to continue providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to maintain the operations of the digitized supply chain management systems developed by USAID in the last six years. Digital Square will work with a local Information Technology firm to assist MoHFW to maintain and use the system for procurement planning..
