Título completo del proyecto:... Prevención de las enfermedades hídricas, en especial el cólera, en la zona de salud urbano rural de Bandundu, provincia de Kwilu, RDC :: El proyecto consiste en la prevención y tratamiento del cólera y otras enfermedades de origen hídrico y de transmisión oral-fecal en la Zona de Salud Urbano - Rural de Bandundu, correspondiente a la Ciudad de Bandundu y alrededores, en la provincia de Kwilu. En los últimos 6 meses del pasado año 2017, el cólera ha afectado a 22 de las 26 provincias del país, dando lugar a unas cifras tan altas de cólera que recordaban al brote que R. D. Congo padeció en el año 1994, tras la crisis de los refugiados tras el genocidio de Ruanda, y que fue considerada una de las mayores pandemias del mundo1.(Ver Anexo 1). Esta Zona de salud no se ha visto afectada desde hace años por la epidemia de cólera de tal magnitud, por lo que ha tenido un pico importante de casos desde junio de 2017, con una letalidad del 7%. En la actualidad, los casos se han ido reduciendo, pero continúa siendo esencial reforzar la capacidad de la comunidad para afrontar nuevos y futuros brotes. Además, debemos continuar combatiendo las enfermedades hídricas que tiene un impacto muy elevado en la salud comunitario y sobre todo en la población infantil, que comparte con el cólera el canal de transmisión (oral- fecal). Una intervención integral hará posible un descenso de las enfermedades hídricas en las zonas y al mismo tiempo hará poblaciones preparadas y formadas para evitar y combatir un posible y futuro brote de cólera.1) Objetivo general:Contribuir a la prevención y reducción de las tasas de morbilidad y mortalidad por enfermedades hídricas, en especial el cólera, en las áreas de salud del área Urbano - Rural de Bandundu en la provincia de Kwilu.122) Objetivo/s específico/s:La propagación y el impacto de las enfermedades hídricas, se reducen a través de la sensibilización de la comunidad sobre la prevención y vigilancia de enfermedades, la cloración del agua, la promoción de la higiene, la desinfección y el manejo seguro de los cadáveres1) Nº total de personas destinatarias (desagregadas por sexo): 111.534 mujeres/ 102.955 hombres2) Nº de personas destinatarias directamente: (desagregadas por sexo): 8.190 mujeres/ 7.560 hombres3) Nº de personas destinatarias indirectamente: (desagregadas por sexo): 103.344 mujeres/ 95.395 hombres

La estrategia de UNICEF, al ig...ual que el Plan Nacional de Eliminación del Cólera, se dirige a los diez departamentos del país. Sin embargo, para este año 2018 y con la contribución de la Xunta de Galicia, el plan está orientado a fortalecer la supervivencia, la prevención, el tratamiento y las capacidades de respuesta rápida en los tres departamentos clave que influyen en la dinámica nacional del cólera (Departamentos Oeste, Centro y Artibonito) El Plan de Respuesta Humanitaria de 2018 se basa en la fase intermedia del Plan de Eliminación del Cólera que abarca el periodo de mitad de 2016 hasta finales de 2018. La estrategia de este proyecto para reducir el contagio de cólera en las comunidades implementa una estrategia de respuesta de alerta, asegura el acceso a agua y saneamiento y logra la promoción sanitaria mejorando los conocimientos y hábitos de higiene de la población. UNICEF quiere contribuir con este proyecto a la reducción de la incidencia del cólera en Haití, hasta lograr el 0,1% antes de finales de 2021, de acuerdo con los objetivos del Plan Nacional de Eliminación del Cólera. Para ello, UNICEF Haití propone continuar trabajando en las zonas de mayor riesgo con actividades de sensibilización sobre higiene. En el 2017, con la intervención realizada en el Departamento Oeste, dirigida a involucrar a las autoridades locales, organizaciones comunitarias y la población en la prevención del cólera, se logró un control permanente de la enfermedad en el departamento, el más poblado de Haití.

Intensificar la concienciación sobre la higiene y movilización comunitaria para eliminar y controlar el cólera :: Desde el terremoto ocurrido en 2010 Haití se enfrenta a una epidemia grave de cólera, responsable de 816.312 casos sospechosos sin procedentes y 9.748 muertes en 7 años. La población vulnerable no puede hacer frente por si sola a los miles de casos que salen a la luz cada año. Aunque en los últimos años se ha producido una disminución de cólera, sigue activo con brotes repentinos localizados en cualquier momento y parte del país. En las encuestas realizadas sobre salud se detectó que un porcentaje importante de la población desconoce los sistemas de purificación del agua, consumen ésta de puntos que no son seguros (pozos, fuentes no protegidas) y no se lavan las manos antes de la preparación de los alimentos.Este proyecto consiste en intensificar la concienciación sobre la higiene en las zonas de mayor riesgo e impulsar un mejor conocimiento sobre el mantenimiento de los sistemas de agua potable en el hogar. Se formará a los agentes locales al objeto de adquirir prácticas adecuadas de higiene, el mantenimiento en la gestión del agua y facilitará información en las áreas propensas a esta enfermedad para que adopten medidas de protección. Personas beneficiarias directas. 4.150 personas, aproximadamente 200 hogaresPersonas beneficiarias indirectas. Agentes municipales que son claves en el desarrollo del proyecto: 50 líderes religiosos (hombres), 50 profesores (25 hombres y 25 mujeres) y 50 vendedores (25 hombres y mujeres)

Breve presentación del socio localNuestro Socio Local, las Hermanas de la Caridad de Santa Ana, inauguraron el Complejo Sanitario ?Nuestra Señora del Pilar? en Sanand ? Gujarat - India a finales de 2015. Situado al suroeste del país, el centro atiende al 100% de enfermos pobres locales ya que éstos carecen de cualquier tipo de infraestructura y/o asistencia médica gubernamental. Además extiende su radio de acción con visitas sanitarias semanales por los principales poblados de referencia de la zona (habitados por comunidades muy pobres y/o de castas bajas) y lidera un programa de microcréditos para el empoderamiento de la mujer local. El Complejo Sanitario está formado por una Escuela de Enfermería con capacidad para 200 alumnas y un Hospital provisto de 100 camas. Dicho recinto, necesita una serie de mejoras para optimizar su atención sanitaria local con la población beneficiaria tan pobre y expuesta sanitariamente ya que en la zona se dan con cierta relevancia casos de dengue, malaria o chiquingunya provocadas por picaduras de mosquitos. Es por ello, que como medida de prevención, se quieren instalar mosquiteras en todas las ventanas del complejo sanitario.

El proyecto se desarrolló en ...el Triángulo de Ilemi, Turkana, Kenia donde la población se encuentra en situación de extrema pobreza (ODS1: Fin de la Pobreza) y la atención sanitaria del gobierno de Turkana es muy limitada. Siendo la ratio médica/paciente 1/80.000. (ODS 2: Salud y bienestar). El objetivo fue mejorar el acceso a la salud de poblaciones nómadas y seminómadas a través de la a tención del grupo de jóvenes de Lobur apoyados por la comunidad misionera de San Pablo Apóstol (MCSPA), la Fundación Emalaikat y el GUdC 2 de la Universidad de Alcalá.

Uno de los principales problem...as para controlar la malaria, la tuberculosis y las enfermedades tropicales desatendidas es la falta de accesibilidad de muchas comunidades a los centros de salud y a los sistemas de diagnóstico. El proyecto desarrolla una herramienta de diagnóstico automático, una aplicación que captura las imágenes del microscopio desde dispositivos móviles y analiza diversos campos de cada muestra. Una vez detectados o no los parásitos o bacterias la herramienta proporciona un primer diagnóstico automático. Podría ser utilizada en instalaciones de laboratorios todo y estar pensada para estar disponible en comunidades periféricas con pocos recursos sanitarios sin experiencia en laboratorio.

Cobertura sanitaria universal ...en los servicios de salud reproductiva con especial atención en la prevención y control de la COVID 19 La propuesta pretende apoyar a los servicios públicos de salud en la región (wilaya) de Brakna (especialmente en dos de sus moughataas: Boghé y M'bagne), en el contexto de la pandemia de COVID 19, para contribuir a la cobertura sanitaria universal y equitativa, prestando especial atención a los servicios relacionados con salud sexual y reproductiva. La intervención se articula alrededor de tres líneas básicas de trabajo: (1) Apoyar la capacidad de respuesta del Ministerio de Salud en prevención y control de la COVID 19 y otras enfermedades infecciosas con especial atención en los cuidados vinculados a la salud sexual y reproductiva. - Elaboración y adaptación de herramientas de la OMS para la atención de la salud materno-infantil en situaciones epidémicas (especialmente durante la COVID 19), así como, la actualización de guías, herramientas y protocolos del Ministerio de Salud con enfoque de género en salud sexual y reproductiva. - Análisis y mejora de los servicios sanitarios en higiene y seguimiento para el cumplimiento de protocolos COVID 19 en salud reproductiva. - Capacitación del personal sanitario en atención de la salud materno-infantil en el contexto COVID 19 y otras situaciones epidémicas. - Revisión y adaptación de las guías y protocolos para su mejora durante crisis sanitarias. - Apoyo a acciones de sensibilización para la prevención de la COVID 19 y otras situaciones epidémicas. (2) Reforzar la cobertura sanitaria universal y equitativa en la región, prestando especial atención a los servicios relacionados con salud sexual y reproductiva. - Análisis de la cobertura y gestión de los servicios sanitarios de salud matero-infantil en la región para detectar áreas de mejora en colaboración con las iniciativas de otros agentes internacionales. Seguimiento y análisis del forfait obstétrico en la cobertura universal para su adaptabilidad y mejora. - Refuerzo de las estructuras y capacitación del personal en el marco de una adecuada gestión del forfait obstétrico. - Capacitación del personal sanitario (parteras, voluntarias y matronas) en cuidados neonatales y mentorado. - Integración en las actividades IEC del programa de salud reproductiva de contenidos basados en estrategias de prevención de la malnutrición infantil. (3) Contribuir al proyecto piloto de creación de un seguro de salud para conseguir la cobertura sanitaria universal en la región de Brakna poniendo especial atención en el refuerzo de los servicios de salud materno-infantil. - Accesibilidad financiera de las familias con mujeres en edad de procrear y/o embarazadas con riesgo de malnutrición global (aguda o severa) mediante cajas de solidaridad de gestión pública. - Refuerzo de la implicación comunitaria en materia de salud restaurando la confianza en el sistema de la población tras la crisis generada por la COVID 19.

The contribution Urban WASH a...nd Cholera Mitigation seeks to mitigate the outbreak and spread of cholera, typhoid and other diarrheal diseases in Zimbabwe. Building on a previous programme in the previous year, the contribution will:•Expand social mobilization of communities around the risk of cholera and Improving safe hygiene and sanitation practices, with a focus on participatory health and hygiene education in institutions (health facilities, schools) and affected communities – this may also entail provision of temporary latrines / mobile toilets where appropriate.•Distribution of WASH hygiene kits, including household water treatment chemicals to high risk areas.•Strengthening coordination and surveillance mechanisms at national and sub-national levels.•Remobilising Rapid Response teams to reach diarrhoea-impacted households within 48 hours of cases presenting at clinics as this strategy proved effective during the 2018 cholera response and extend this capacity to other Provinces as both a preparedness and response mechanism.•Further Stockpiling of hygiene kits, water treatment tablets and IEC materials.•Monitoring of program activities and water quality, quantities etc.•Rehabilitation/upgrading/construction of strategic water points with a focus of maximizing use of perennial water sources to cover needs of institutions (schools, health centres) and vulnerable communities.•Maintaining and retraining existing Community Health clubs and establishment of new Health Clubs where needed in the community, schools, health centres and market places in high-risk communities.
