AIDSFree aims to improve the q...uality and effectiveness of high-impact, evidence-based HIV and AIDS interventions such as PMTCT, VMMC, condom promotion, HTC as a gateway to care and treatment, and other emerging approaches in order to meet country-specific goals and objectives globally. AIDSFree is a five-year cooperative agreement led by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc., with partners Abt Associates, Inc., Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, EnCompass LLC, IMA World Health, the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, Jhpiego Corporation, and PATH. AIDSFree provides capacity development and technical support to USAID missions, host-country governments, and HIV implementers at the local, regional, and national level.

The purpose is to strengthen the program and facilitate implementation of the National Strategic Plan for malaria and the HSDP IV. The project will have the following three objectives,1.Provide monitoring and evaluation support to the national malaria control program especially on-going malaria epidemic surveillance work that PMI supported through MEASURE III project. 2.Conduct and coordinate malaria operational research, formative evaluations and special studies including surveys including malaria indicator survey and impact evaluation. 3. Provide carefully selected specific technical assistance at national and regional levels in areas of proposal development, strategic document preparation and program management.

PHSP will provide technical as...sistance to 203 private for-profit health facilities to provide high-impact primary health services. Tuberculosis (TB) and malaria funds will expand and enhance PPM-DOTS and malaria treatment, and MCH/FP/RH funds will be used to ensure better access and quality of maternal and child health and FP/RH services in the urban setting. USAID will complete a rapid assessment to investigate the potential for various levels of private facilities to deliver MCH services, increase access to integrated FP services, initiate youth friendly FP services and expand diagnosis and treatment for TB. The activity will also ensure the flow of TB, malaria and FP commodities to private facilities and ensure private facilities are included as part of the integrated supportive supervision led by the Regional Health Bureaus to improve health services.

Breakthrough-ACTION will use s...tate-of-the-art, evidence-based tools to encourage people in developing countries to adopt healthy behaviors, from using modern contraceptive methods to sleeping under bed nets to being tested for HIV. Much of the work will harness the power of communication - from mass media campaigns to TV and radio dramas to simple posters in a health clinic - to inspire long-lasting change. The project will also take advantage of other behavioral science approaches such as behavioral economics and human-centered design to improve programs. The program - which builds on a prior five-year, 31-country project called the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) - is expected to be double the size. It will be led by CCP who will partner with Save the Children, ideas42, ThinkPlace Kenya and Camber Collective. Breakthrough-ACTION will also be supported in the field by ActionSprout, the International Center for Research on Women and Human Network International. CCP is based at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

The activity aims to perpetuate the pilot programs by aligning donors and the digital community around shared goals, supporting technical capacity in-country, coordinating and aligning investments around government priorities to achieve lasting impact, and promoting the reuse and adaptation of existing open-source digital health solutions. In Bangladesh, the activity will use FY17 funds to continue providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to maintain the operations of the digitized supply chain management systems developed by USAID in the last six years. Digital Square will work with a local Information Technology firm to assist MoHFW to maintain and use the system for procurement planning..

VectorWorks is a five-year (20...14-19) global project to increase access to and use of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) and other proven vector control interventions for malaria prevention. The project is funded by the Presidents Malaria Initiative (PMI) under a USAID cooperative agreement. It envisions a world where every family has the ability to protect itself from malaria through vector control technologies that are easy to use, easy to access and easy to afford. VectorWorks has a comprehensive and dynamic approach to empower governments, civil society and the private sector to create sustainable systems to improve access to and appropriate use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets (ITNs) and other vector control technologies. VectorWorks will innovatively expand on the strong and successful work of the NetWorks project to support and strengthen distribution networks, create demand for and promote consistent use of ITNs, and strategically apply and use research findings. These are the necessary next steps down the path to elimination of malaria.

Strengthening Health Outcomes ...through the Private Sector (SHOPS) bilateral award is a USAID/Washington's Leader with Associates Cooperative Agreement designed to strengthen and build the capacity of the private sector. Special emphasis is focused on strengthening the capacity of pharmaceutical manufacturers, and encouraging local manufactures of neonatal lifesaving commodities such as chlorhexidine in addition to the zinc tablets. Other interventions include: improving malaria diagnosis/treatment/referral services and Aquatab resale (especially during cholera alerts in the rainy season) among Over The Counter Medicine Sellers and pharmacies, strengthening the capacity of private service providers to provide FP information and counselling, and improving access to finance for private sector providers to aid the expansion of maternal and child health services in underserved communities. This activity uses a USAID Development Credit Authority guarantee mechanism as well.

Breakthrough-ACTION will use s...tate-of-the-art, evidence-based tools to encourage people in developing countries to adopt healthy behaviors, from using modern contraceptive methods to sleeping under bed nets to being tested for HIV. Much of the work will harness the power of communication - from mass media campaigns to TV and radio dramas to simple posters in a health clinic - to inspire long-lasting change. The project will also take advantage of other behavioral science approaches such as behavioral economics and human-centered design to improve programs. The program - which builds on a prior five-year, 31-country project called the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) - is expected to be double the size. It will be led by CCP who will partner with Save the Children, ideas42, ThinkPlace Kenya and Camber Collective. Breakthrough-ACTION will also be supported in the field by ActionSprout, the International Center for Research on Women and Human Network International. CCP is based at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

PMI will help the NMCP and nat...ional MIP working group to update its MIP guidelines and training materials to reflect the 2012 WHO IPTp policy recommendations. PMI will also help ANC providers at public (and selected private) facilities in the PMI targeted areas to deliver IPTp and LLINs effectively as part of routine ANC services. Activities will include in-service refresher training, job aides, and supportive supervision.

Establish and strengthen host ...country health information systems, and build host country capacity to collect, analyze, disseminate, and use data for decision making. Includes support to routine health information systems (RHIS) and processes such as facility-based health management information systems (HMIS), surveillance, vital statistics and civil registration, and program monitoring. Includes censuses and surveys, needs assessments, baseline studies, and targeted evaluations. Includes data quality assessments, and data analysis, dissemination, and use activities supporting the host country systems, including civil society engagement for accountability. Includes support for mapping and for geographic and electronic information systems. Covers programs across the spectrum from population-based health services to personalized medical care. Related training, supplies, equipment, and non-USG personnel are included. Does not include activities in support of meeting USG reporting requirements.

The Monitoring and Evaluation ...to Assess and Use Results (MEASURE) Evaluation Phase IV Project builds on the decades-long commitment by the Bureau for Global Health to support health sector monitoring and evaluation and country health information system strengthening. The project is designed, in part, to further efforts of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to end preventable child and maternal deaths (EPCMD) by assisting partner governments and institutions to generate and make use of high-quality health systems data that can be used to guide decision-making on effective interventions. The strategic objective of the MEASURE Evaluation Phase IV Project is to enable countries to strengthen national, community, and facility-based systems to generate high quality health information that is used to inform decisions on policies, programs, and resource allocations at all levels of the health system.

VectorWorks

VectorWorks is a five-year (20...14-19) global project to increase access to and use of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) and other proven vector control interventions for malaria prevention. The project is funded by the Presidents Malaria Initiative (PMI) under a USAID cooperative agreement. It envisions a world where every family has the ability to protect itself from malaria through vector control technologies that are easy to use, easy to access and easy to afford. VectorWorks has a comprehensive and dynamic approach to empower governments, civil society and the private sector to create sustainable systems to improve access to and appropriate use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets (ITNs) and other vector control technologies. VectorWorks will innovatively expand on the strong and successful work of the NetWorks project to support and strengthen distribution networks, create demand for and promote consistent use of ITNs, and strategically apply and use research findings. These are the necessary next steps down the path to elimination of malaria.

Digital Square works to create... a future where governments and decision-makers can access the information they need to ensure better health outcomes for all. The activity aims to perpetuate the pilot programs by aligning donors and the digital community around shared goals, supporting technical capacity in-country, coordinating and aligning investments around government priorities to achieve lasting impact, and promoting the reuse and adaptation of existing open-source digital health solutions. In Bangladesh, the activity will use FY17 funds to continue providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to maintain the operations of the digitized supply chain management systems developed by USAID in the last six years. Digital Square will work with a local Information Technology firm to assist MoHFW to maintain and use the system for procurement planning..

Breakthrough-ACTION will use s...tate-of-the-art, evidence-based tools to encourage people in developing countries to adopt healthy behaviors, from using modern contraceptive methods to sleeping under bed nets to being tested for HIV. Much of the work will harness the power of communication - from mass media campaigns to TV and radio dramas to simple posters in a health clinic - to inspire long-lasting change. The project will also take advantage of other behavioral science approaches such as behavioral economics and human-centered design to improve programs. The program - which builds on a prior five-year, 31-country project called the Health Communication Capacity Collaborative (HC3) - is expected to be double the size. It will be led by CCP who will partner with Save the Children, ideas42, ThinkPlace Kenya and Camber Collective. Breakthrough-ACTION will also be supported in the field by ActionSprout, the International Center for Research on Women and Human Network International. CCP is based at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Specifically, the program leads the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI) suite of programs to support the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) through technical assistance and community based service delivery support for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of malaria. Stop Palu+ will work closely with other USAID partners and other development partners to contribute to achieve government's goal of bringing Guinea to pre-elimination status by the end of 2022.
