Systems for Improved Access to... Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS)
more
|
SIAPS focuses on enhancing pha...rmaceutical services through patientcentered solutions while continuing to support essential supply chain functions and medical products supply security. The SIAPS goal is to support the achievement of improved and sustained health outcomes by applying a systems strengthening approach consistent with the Global Health Initiative (GHI) principles. The SIAPS result areas address the intersections of five health systems components as they pertain to pharmaceutical services (governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery) in the design of potential interventions to ensure that they respond to health element and cross cutting concerns in support of health system strengthening.
more
|
From 2011 to 2018, the USAID-f...unded Systems for Improved Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) Program worked to ensure equitable, affordable access to safe, quality-assured medicines and related services in 46 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Oceania.
The SIAPS pharmaceutical systems strengthening approach included local counterparts and partners in addressing five interrelated health system functions—governance, human resources, information, financing, and service delivery—with a focus on medicines.
The program tackled systemic deficiencies, going beyond the selection, procurement, and distribution of pharmaceutical products to include dispensing and supplying pharmaceuticals to individuals and providing medication-related information and counseling. Treatment focused on critical health areas, such as family planning, HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health, tuberculosis, and neglected tropical diseases and, more recently, Ebola.

Community Care Program (CCP)
|
The USAID Community Care Progr...am (CCP), formerly the Community Care HIV/AIDS Services Strengthening Project (ComCHASS), is funded by the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief through the U.S. Agency for International Development. The program is implemented using a family- and community-based approach to strengthen the Mozambican response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in seven provinces. FHI 360 provides technical assistance in grant making and administration in support of nongovernmental organizations, civil society organizations and other stakeholders working to strengthen community-based care and support for people living with HIV, orphans and vulnerable children and pre- or postpartum women. FHI 360's activities include training, technical assistance, monitoring and evaluation, procurement, extensive and intensive mentoring, capacity building, supportive supervision, and financial and program monitoring.

|
|

EQUIP
|
The major purpose of the a EQU...IP Consortium is to provide countries with innovative and customized solutions that increase HIV testing and linkage to care, widen the coverage of ART, expand the capacity for viral load monitoring, and improve retention of patients on ART. EQUIP seeks to quickly respond to requests from PEPFAR countries and deliver solutions tailored to the specific context and area. By focusing on the differentiation and customization of service delivery, cost-effectiveness, and technical/resource suitability of each solution, EQUIP is able to provide solutions that are both scalable and achieve substantial impact. The EQUIP Consortium is led by Right to Care, and consists of Anova Health Institute, Kheth'Impilo, Partners in Hope, and MatCH.

SYSTEMS FOR IMPROVED ACCESS TO... PHARMACEUTICALS AND SERVICES (SIAPS)

|
|

Targeted priority and at-risk populations for this program include pregnant women; infants, children, and adolescents; men who have sex with men (MSM); commercial sex workers (CSWs); hard to reach populations; and those co-infected with HIV/TB. This program will support the scale-up of SAG priorities through capacity building, operations research, including cost and cost effectiveness analyses, monitoring and evaluation, and plans for transition of limited service provision to key populations. Successful programs will demonstrate a strong capacity for integration of policy, technical approaches, as well as collaboration and coordination with partners and stakeholders and must also be in accordance with the Partnership Framework between the USG and SAG.O
