- facilitate communication and understanding between the two disciplines of epidemiology and laboratory (medicine) for disease surveillance and outbreak investigation;
- provide the field epidemiologist with a better understanding of basic microbiolo...gy techniques and analysis and interpretation of results;
- convey the laboratory perspective of public health investigations to field epidemiologists in order to improve collaboration between these two disciplines and to enhance.

Chagas disease caused by Trypanosoma cruzi is a public health issue in Latin America. This highly diverse parasite is divided into at least seven discrete typing units (DTUs) TcI-TcVI and Tcbat. Some DTUs have been associated with geographical distribution in epidemiological scenarios and clinical m...anifestations, but these aspects remain poorly understood. Many studies have focused on studying the parasite and its vectors/hosts, using a wide variety of genetic markers and methods. Here, we performed a systematic review of the literature for the last 20 years to present an update of DTUs distribution in the Americas, collecting ecoepidemiological information. We found that the DTUs are widespread across the continent and that there is a whole gamma of genetic markers used for the identification and genotyping of the parasite. The data obtained in this descriptor could improve the molecular epidemiology studies of Chagas disease in endemic regions.

Schistosomiasis is a prevalent parasitic, neglected tropical disease (NTD) affecting over 220 million people globally, especially in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The pathology of this disease in terms of intestinal, liver and urinary presentations is well-known, yet its chronic effect on host genitalia... is often ignored or overlooked. Male genital schistosomiasis (MGS) is a gender-specific manifestation of urogenital schistosomiasis (UGS), associated with the presence of Schistosoma haematobium eggs and related pathologies in genitalia of men inhabiting or visiting endemic areas in SSA. Despite the first reported by Madden, the epidemiology, diagnostic testing and case management of MGS are not well-described owing to limited research and diminishing focus over several decades.

Yaws is targeted for eradication by WHO in the 2021-2030 NTD Roadmap. It is therefore crucial to know how to identify cases, design and implement activities to eradicate the disease at the community level.
In the context of integration of skin NTDs it is vital to learn to recogn...ize a disease targeted for eradication. At the individual level yaws lesions may mimic other skin diseases. At the community level, it is key to know how to design and implement the total community treatment strategy and monitor its impact. This course aims at providing health workers with the basic knowledge to understand the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, impact, eradication strategy and reporting of yaws.

2. To understand the epidemiology including disease distribution and risk, the models
for estimating under-detection, the geographical variati...ons of in clinical presentation,
the roles of domestic and wild animal reservoirs and the subsequent different
transmission patterns and control approaches, including vector control.
3. To update current research and development efforts for improving diagnostic and
treatment tools.
4. To define the goals for achieving the control of r-HAT, the need for a multisectoral
approach and to discuss the strategy for controlling r-HAT and the coordination

Classical rabies caused by RABV occurs worldwide besides some isolated countries and Western Europe that are regarded rabies free. The aim of the present study was to predict which patients with severe or difficult-to-treat asthma are at highest risk for healthcare utilisation can be predicted so as to optimise clinical management. Multiple potential predictors were assessed at baseline using a systematic algorithm employing stepwise logistic regression.
