Les périodes périnatale et néonatale constituent des moments critiques dans la vie des mères et des nouveau-nés. En effet, pendant ces périodes, des complications obstétricales, foetales et néonatales surviennent entrainant des mort-nés, des décès néonatals et des possibilités d’incap...acités si l’enfant survit. Les présentes directives nationales de santé des nouveau-nés, définies comme des lignes de conduite données par l’Autorité, en l’occurrence le Ministre de la Santé, visent à prévenir, dépister et prendre en charge ces complications en vue de d’améliorer la qualité des soins et de réduire la morbidité et la mortalité foetales et néonatales, ainsi que les handicaps à moyen ou long terme chez l’enfant. Les directives se focalisent principalement sur la période autour de l’accouchement, les premières heures et les sept (7) premiers jours de vie de l’enfant.

The document "Diabetes in Pregnancy" by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) outlines quality standards for managing diabetes in women during pregnancy, with a focus on five key areas. These women should receive guidance on optimizing their health before pregnancy, including achieving target HbA1c levels and taking high-dose folic acid to minimize risks. Second, joint diabetes and antenatal care is recommended for pregnant women with pre-existing diabetes, who should be seen early in pregnancy (ideally by 10 weeks gestation) by a combined diabetes and antenatal team to ensure optimal care throughout their pregnancy.
The third focus area is continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), which should be offered to pregnant women with type 1 diabetes. This includes either real-time CGM or flash monitoring to help improve blood glucose control and reduce complications during pregnancy. Those eligible are referred to the National Diabetes Prevention Programme to lower their risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Lastly, the document recommends annual HbA1c testing for women with a history of gestational diabetes to monitor for type 2 diabetes development.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an important contributor to mortality from noncommunicable diseases. No decrease has been seen for CKD mortality contrary to many other important non-communicable diseases (e.g., cardiovascular disease). The prevalence of CKD and kidney failure are increasing all over... the world – and thereby also the need for dialysis. Unfortunately, the prevalence increases most rapidly in lowand middle-income countries. Globally, there are great inequities in access and quality of management of kidney failure. Many low- and middle-income countries cannot meet the increased need for dialysis. If the patients receive dialysis, it might only be for a limited period due to the out-of-pocket expenses. There are global disparities in CKD mortality reflecting the disparities in access to care. Lack of access to dialysis is an important cause of the increased CKD mortality in low- and middle-income countries.
