Social and behavior change (SBC) professionals have often been tasked to find ways to influence knowledge, attitudes, and practices, about vaccines. Now that the COVID-19 vaccines are becoming available worldwide, renewed emphasis and urgency for SBC efforts arise.
To that end, WHO has offered thre...e factors that play a role in vaccine hesitancy, the first two of which can be addressed by SBC: Complacency: Low perceived risk of vaccine-preventable diseases, and vaccination not deemed necessary. Other life/health issues are a greater priority.
Confidence: Low levels of trust in vaccines, in the delivery system, and in health authorities
Convenience: Barriers related to geographic accessibility, availability, affordability, and acceptability of services
This resource page provide a selection of SBC research, tools, and examples that aid in understanding this issue, especially in light of the recent availability of COVID-19 vaccines and the urgency for immunization worldwide.

La fiche d'information sur le choléra de l'Organisation mondiale de la santé fournit des informations essentielles sur le choléra, une infection diarrhéique aiguë causée par l'ingestion d'aliments ou d'eau contaminés par la bactérie Vibrio cholerae. La maladie reste une menace mondiale pour ...la santé publique, en particulier dans les zones où l'accès à l'eau potable et à l'assainissement adéquat est insuffisant. Bien que de nombreuses personnes infectées présentent des symptômes légers ou inexistants, les cas graves peuvent entraîner une déshydratation rapide et la mort en l'absence de traitement. La prévention repose sur l'accès à une eau propre, un assainissement adéquat et de bonnes pratiques d'hygiène. Le traitement efficace consiste principalement en l'administration rapide de solutions de réhydratation orale. Cette version révisée et actualisée de l’ouvrage incorpore l’expérience acquise lors de catastrophes récentes, comme le typhon Haiyan qui a touché les Philippines en 2013, l’épidémie d’Ebola qui s’est déclarée en Afrique de l’Ouest en 2014 et 2015, et le tremblement de terre qui a frappé le Népal en 2015. Elle comporte également plusieurs annexes traitant de diverses questions, telles que la prise en charge des dépouilles des victimes d’une épidémie de maladie infectieuse, la planification des sites d’inhumation et l’utilisation des analyses ADN lors de catastrophes de grande ampleur.
