Zu den ohnehin bestehenden Gründen, die Menschen zum Verlassen ihrer Heimat zwingen, kommt der Klimawandel verschärfend hinzu. Schätzungen zur Rolle des Klimawandels sind wegen der Komplexität des Zusammenspiels verschiedener Mig...rations- oder Fluchtursachen äußerst schwierig. Die Vorhersagen über das mögliche Ausmaß von Migration infolge des Klimawandels gehen daher weit auseinander – bis zum Jahr 2050 könnten zwischen 25 und 700 Millionen Menschen davon betroffen sein (micle 2012).

We live in a world in which 28 million children have been driven from their
homes as a result of conflict, persecution and insecurity¹. If current trends
continue, more than 63 million children could be forced to flee by 2025², of
which over 25 million will cross borders and become refugees. At... least
300,000 of these child refugees will end up alone, separated from their
families³. Without a step-change in the provision of education for refugee
children, at least 12 million of them will be out of school by 2025⁴.

The National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP) provides a framework and direction to the government agencies for all phases of disaster management cycle. The NDMP is a “dynamic document” in the sense that it will be periodically improved keeping up with the emerging global best practices and knowl...edge base in disaster management. It is in accordance with the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the guidance given in the National Policy on Disaster Management, 2009 (NPDM), and the established national practices.

This paper poses two applications of Catholic social teaching’s concepts of subsidiarity and participation to academic community engagement. The first pertains to the very general use of the term community. The second refers to a distinction between reciprocity and collaboration.
