Cette évaluation du paysage portait sur les pays prioritaires de l'Agence des États-Unis pour le Développement International (USAID) en termes de Popula...tion et de Santé de la Reproduction, et s'intéressait plus particulièrement à la planification familiale car c'est le point central du projet APC. Le but de l'évaluation du paysage fut de recueillir les informations les plus récentes disponibles sur le système de santé communautaire, les agents de santé communautaires et les services de santé communautaires dans chaque pays. Ce profil est destiné à refléter les informations recueillies. Lorsque cela est possible, les informations présentées sont justifiées par les politiques nationales et d'autres documents pertinents ; cependant, une grande partie des informations sont le résultat de l'expertise institutionnelle et d'entrevues personnelles en raison de l'absence relative d'informations publiquement disponibles sur les systèmes nationaux de santé communautaires. La question des effets du changement climatique sur les hommes et les femmes a été définie par la Commission de la condition de la femme comme une de celles qui doivent davantage retenir l’attention. Les normes, rôles et relations relatifs au genre (voir l’Encadré 1) sont d’importants fac...teurs déterminant la vulnérabilité et la capacité d’adaptation aux effets du changement climatique sur la santé (voir l’Encadré 2). Les femmes et les hommes sont vulnérables face aux effets des événements climatiques extrêmes non seulement du point de vue biologique, mais aussi du fait de leurs rôles et responsabilités sociaux distincts (Easterling, 2000 ; Wisner et al., 2004) qui peuvent varier mais se retrouvent dans toutes les sociétés. Les femmes doivent souvent supporter des charges supplémentaires en cas d’événements climatiques extrêmes du fait des rôles et responsabilités qu’elles sont censées assumer en s’occupant de la famille, alors que les hommes de leur côté supporteront des charges supplémentaires du fait de leur rôle économique.

Au-delà du personnel sanitaire chargé de programmes sur le paludisme, la campagne s’adresse directement aux habitants des communautés bénéficiaires. Ainsi, elle tient compte des orientations du plan stratégique national de lutte contre le paludisme.

Le Sénégal a réalisé des Enquêtes Démographiques et de Santé (EDS) en 1986, 1992, 1997, 2005, et 2010-2011. Au sortir de l’édition de 2010-2011, le pays s’est engagé dans la mise en œuvre d’un programme d’enquêtes dont la périodicité de collecte de données est ramenée à un an... (EDScontinue). C’est ainsi que la première phase a été réalisée en 2012-2013 et celle de 2017 est la cinquième. L’EDS- Continue comporte un volet traitant de la production d’indicateurs sociodémographiques et sanitaires (volet ménages) et un autre qui apprécie la disponibilité des ressources matérielles et humaines ainsi que la qualité des soins offerts par les services de santé aux populations (volet établissements de santé).

Comme c'est le cas pour plusieurs pays Il s'agit de la première histoire de l'épidémie de corona virus dans le Pays, et qui est l'un des pays à avoir enregistré de nombreux cas avec un taux de mortalité élevé. La particularité est le mélange de crise humanitaire et la pandémie COVID-19 marqué par une transmission interhumaine active et étendue dans différentes régions du pays.

Un an après le début de la pandémie, la COVID-19 a changé le monde et continue de peser sur notre quotidien. La pandémie a mis en évidence les lacunes des systèmes de santé tandis que le personnel de santé a été exposé au virus de façon
disproportionnée. Tout au long de l’année pas...sée, les infirmières ont affiché leur volonté et leur souplesse
en s’adaptant à de nouvelles méthodes de travail. Des millions d’infections à la COVID-19 ont été signalées parmi les agents de santé dans le monde et, hélas, le Conseil International des Infirmières (CII) a enregistré près de 3 000 décès qui lui sont
imputables parmi les infirmières dans 60 pays. Il est probable que le chiffre réel soit beaucoup plus élevé, le nombre d’infections et de décès parmi les agents de santé restant impossible à évaluer avec précision dans la mesure où de nombreux systèmes et pays n’ont pas assuré le suivi de cette question capitale.

Plus de 700 000 personnes perdent la vie par suicide chaque année. La réduction d’un tiers du taux mondial de mortalité par suicide d’ici à 2030 est à la fois un indicateur et une cible (la seule pour la santé mentale) dans les objectifs de développement durable des Nations Unies et dans ...le Plan d’action global de l’OMS pour la santé mentale 2013–2030. Le treizième programme général de travail 2019–2023 de l’OMS comprend le même indicateur avec une réduction de 15 % à l’horizon 2023.
Le monde n’est pas sur la bonne voie pour atteindre les cibles de la réduction du suicide fixées pour 2030. L’OMS encourage les pays à prendre des mesures pour prévenir le suicide, idéalement par le biais d’une stratégie nationale intégrée de prévention du suicide. Les gouvernements et les communautés peuvent contribuer à la prévention du suicide en mettant en œuvre l’approche LIVE LIFE de l’OMS, dont le but est de servir de base pour commencer la prévention du suicide, et dont ils peuvent s’inspirer pour élaborer une stratégie nationale intégrée de prévention du suicide. Le présent guide s’adresse à tous les pays, qu’ils disposent actuellement ou non d’une stratégie nationale de prévention du suicide.

Principaux faits
D’après les estimations, 6 à 7 millions de personnes dans le monde sont infectées par Trypanosoma cruzi (T. Cruzi), le parasite responsable de la maladie de Chagas. La plupart de ces personnes vivent en Amérique latine.
La transmission à l’être humain se fait principalem...ent, en Amérique latine, par l’intermédiaire d’un insecte appelé triatome, qui peut être porteur de T. cruzi.
Parmi les autres modes de transmission de la maladie de Chagas, figurent : la transmission orale (par voie alimentaire), la transfusion de sang ou de produits sanguins, la transmission mère-enfant (congénitale), la transplantation d’organes et les accidents de laboratoire.
La maladie de Chagas ne touchait auparavant que des zones rurales de la Région des Amériques, et surtout de l’Amérique latine. Ces dernières décennies, toutefois, les mouvements de population ont fait que la plupart des personnes infectées sont des habitants de zones urbaines (urbanisation) et que la maladie s’est propagée à d’autres continents (où T. cruzi se transmet par des voies non vectorielles).
L’infection à T. cruzi est curable si un traitement est instauré rapidement après l’infection.
Chez les personnes infectées de façon chronique, un traitement antiparasitaire peut éventuellement prévenir ou enrayer la progression de la maladie, et éviter sa transmission, notamment de la mère à l’enfant.
Jusqu’à 30 % des personnes infectées de façon chronique présentent des troubles cardiaques, et jusqu’à 10 % d’entre elles souffrent de troubles digestifs et/ou neurologiques, ce qui peut imposer un traitement particulier.
Les principales méthodes de prévention de la maladie de Chagas en Amérique latine sont la lutte antivectorielle ainsi que d’autres stratégies visant à réduire la transmission vectorielle.
Dans le monde entier, le dépistage sanguin joue un rôle crucial dans la prévention de l’infection par transfusion ou transplantation d’organes.
Il est essentiel de détecter et de traiter l’infection chez les femmes et les filles en âge de procréer, ainsi que de soumettre tout nouveau-né et ses frères et sœurs à un dépistage dans le cas où la mère est infectée et n’a jamais reçu de traitement antiparasitaire.
Certains facteurs socio-économiques et environnementaux influent fortement sur la maladie de Chagas, dont la propagation et les différentes dimensions interdépendantes justifient la nécessité de mettre en œuvre des stratégies de lutte multisectorielles.
Quelques pays ont mis en place la notification et la surveillance des cas aigus et chroniques et des voies de transmission actives, qui sont essentielles à la lutte contre la maladie de Chagas.
