Background
In the prevention of cardiovascular disease, a WHO target is that at least 50% of eligible people use statins. Robust evidence is needed to monitor progress towards this target in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), where most cardiovascular disease deaths occur. The objectiv...es of this study were to benchmark statin use in LMICs and to investigate country-level and individual-level characteristics associated with statin use.

In 2014, the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) reported that the highest prevalence of symptoms of severe asthma was found in the low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including Nigeria. While exposure to biomass fuel use may be an important risk factor in the deve...lopment of asthma, its association with asthma symptoms severity has not been well-established. The aim of this study is to extend the spectrum of environmental risk factors that may be contributing towards increasing asthma morbidity, especially asthma symptoms severity in rural schoolchildren in Nigeria and to examine possible asthma underdiagnosis among this population.

Climate change is adversely affecting human health. Rapid and wide-scale adaptation is urgently needed given the negative impact climate change has across the socio-environmental determinants of health. The mobilisation of climate finance is critical to accelerate adaptation towards a climate resili...ent health sector. However, a comprehensive understanding
of how much bilateral and multilateral climate adaptation financing has been channelled to the health sector is currently missing. Here, we provide a baseline estimate of a decade’s worth of international climate adaptation finance for the health sector. We systematically searched international financial reporting databases to analyse 1) the volumes, and geographic targeting, of adaptation finance for the health sector globally between 2009–2019 and 2) the focus of health adaptation projects based on a content analysis of publicly available project documentation.

Behaviour-change interventions have been consistently considered an essential part of comprehensive HIV, STI and unintended pregnancy prevention. In 2015, the World Health Organization reviewed and assessed existing evidence ...on brief behavioural interventions, leading to the publication of Brief sexuality-related communication: recommendations for a public health approach. A community health worker (CHW) model can promote HIV prevention and treatment behaviors,
especially in highly mobile populations. In a fishing community in Rakai, Uganda, the Rakai
Health Sciences Program implemented a communit...y health worker HIV intervention called Health
Scouts. The situated Information, Motivation, and Behavioral Skills (sIMB) framework informed
the design and a qualitative evaluation of the intervention. We interviewed 51 intervention
clients and coded transcripts informed by sIMB framework dimensions.
