Les périodes périnatale et néonatale constituent des moments critiques dans la vie des mères et des nouveau-nés. En effet, pendant ces périodes, des complications obstétricales, foetales et néonatales surviennent entrainant des mort-nés, des décès néonatals et des possibilités d’incap...acités si l’enfant survit. Les présentes directives nationales de santé des nouveau-nés, définies comme des lignes de conduite données par l’Autorité, en l’occurrence le Ministre de la Santé, visent à prévenir, dépister et prendre en charge ces complications en vue de d’améliorer la qualité des soins et de réduire la morbidité et la mortalité foetales et néonatales, ainsi que les handicaps à moyen ou long terme chez l’enfant. Les directives se focalisent principalement sur la période autour de l’accouchement, les premières heures et les sept (7) premiers jours de vie de l’enfant.

Ils apportent des informations précises et complètes qui permettront aux femmes enceintes et aux mères vivant avec le VIH de connaître leurs droits et ainsi de prendre des décisions éclairées concernant leur santé et la santé de leur bébé.

Le succès de la mise en œuvre du PNAPF 2017-2020 dépendra de l’engagement de chaque entité à tous les niveaux à travers des arrangements institutionnels clairs. Les autres secteurs tels que les ministères connexes contribueront à favoriser l’environnement juridique et politique de la PF pour garantir l’accès de tous, notamment des jeunes aux services de PF. Les organisations de la société civile (OSC) et les PTF apporteront leur contribution à la mise en œuvre du plan, au renforcement des
capacités des acteurs en PF, au plaidoyer et à la mobilisation des ressources pour la pérennité du programme.

La publication du Protocole de Maputo au Journal officiel de la nation en 2018 a formalisé l’obligation... du gouvernement d’élargir l’accès à l’avortement médicalisé dans les conditions énoncées au Protocole. Néanmoins, les obstacles à la mise en œuvre continuent de rendre les services d’avortement sécurisé largement inaccessibles. En conséquence, la majorité des femmes de Kinshasa qui choisissent d’interrompre leur grossesse le font-elles dans la clandestinité — souvent dans des conditions non médicalisées potentiellement dangereuses pour leur santé.
